Mario (franchise)
is a media franchise, produced and published by video game company Nintendo, created by Japanese game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and starring the fictional Italian plumber Mario. It is primarily a video game franchise, but has extended to other forms of media, including television series, comic books, a 1993 feature film, an upcoming 2023 animated film and theme park attractions. The series' first installment was 1983's ''Mario Bros.'', although Mario had made his first appearance in 1981's ''Donkey Kong,'' and had already been featured in several games of the ''Donkey Kong'' and ''Game & Watch'' series. The ''Mario'' games have been developed by a variety of developers including Nintendo, Hudson Soft, and AlphaDream. Most ''Mario'' games have been released exclusively for Nintendo's various video game consoles and handhelds, from the third generation onward. Mario
is a character created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. He is the title character of the ''Mario'' franchise and the mascot of Japanese video game company Nintendo. Mario has appeared in over 200 video games since his creation. Depicted as a short, pudgy, Italian plumber who resides in the Mushroom Kingdom, his adventures generally center on rescuing Princess Peach from the Koopa villain Bowser. Mario has access to a variety of power-ups that give him different abilities. Mario's fraternal twin brother is Luigi. Super Nintendo World
is a themed area at Universal Studios Japan, and under construction at Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Singapore and the upcoming Universal's Epic Universe at Universal Orlando, Universal Orlando Resort. A result of a partnership between Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts, the area is based on Nintendo video game franchises, primarily the Mario (franchise), ''Mario'' franchise and its various sub-series. is a party video game series featuring characters from the ''Mario (franchise), Mario'' franchise in which up to four local players or computer-controlled characters (called "CPU (gaming), CPUs") compete in a board game interspersed with minigames.
