Mariia Pomazan
Mariia Pomazan (Ukrainian: Марія Олександрівна Помазан; born 15 October 1988) is a Ukrainian Paralympic athlete. She competes in throwing events in the F35 classification for athletes with cerebral palsy. , she holds Women's F35 world records for shot put and discus. Pomazan started athletics at age 19 and made her international debut in 2010. At the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, she won two gold medals with F35 world record throws in both shot put and discus. She broke both these world records at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. In London, a miscalculation of the Raza Points System in the combined F35/F36 discus event caused extended confusion and protest. Pomazan was initially awarded the gold medal over world record breaking F36 athlete Wu Qing, then relegated to silver. One official described the situation as "a shambles." Raza Points System
The Raza point score system is a method in Paralympic athletics field competitions for comparing throws or jumps by athletes of differing levels of disability. In events where athletes of multiple different classifications compete, performances are converted to point scores by a formula which accounts for the athletes' classifications. This means that a more disabled athlete may beat a less disabled competitor with a slightly shorter throw or jump. Spastic Diplegia
Spastic diplegia is a form of cerebral palsy (CP) that is a chronic neuromuscular condition of hypertonia and spasticity—manifested as an especially high and constant "tightness" or "stiffness"—in the muscles of the lower extremities of the human body, usually those of the legs, hips and pelvis. Doctor William John Little's first recorded encounter with cerebral palsy is reported to have been among children who displayed signs of spastic diplegia. T35 (classification)
T35 (T for ''track'') is a disability sport classification for disability athletics' running competitions. It includes people who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. This includes people with cerebral palsy. The classification is used at the Paralympic Games. The corresponding F35 classification (F for ''(in)Field'') includes club and discus throw, shot put, and javelin. Definition This classification is for disability athletics. The 2017 World Para Athletics Championships were a Paralympic track and field meet organized by World Para Athletics, a subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee. 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships
The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships were a Paralympic track and field meet organized by the World Para Athletics subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee. The event was the 7th edition of what is now known as the World Para Athletics Championships, held from 21 to 31 October 2015 at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar. It featured 119 men's events and 91 women's events. The Marathon events which are traditionally part of the world championships were separated from the competition and instead held on 26 April as part of the London Marathon. Venues In January 2013 the IPC announced that Doha would hold the 2015 athletics world championships.
