Marietta Roberts
Marietta Lola Doreen Roberts (January 9, 1943 – October 4, 2020) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. She was a Ontario Liberal Party, Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1987 to 1990. Background Roberts was educated at the University of Western Ontario, the Ontario College of Education and Dalhousie University. She taught at Alma College (St. Thomas, Ontario), Alma College for three years, and then practiced law in the Elgin County, Ontario, Elgin County area from 1971 to 1987. She also worked as a farmer. She was a founding member of the Ontario Child Representation Program, and served as the acting crown attorney for Elgin. Roberts also chaired the Elgin County Board of Education. A Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) is an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of the Canadian province of Ontario. Elsewhere in Canada, the titular designation "Member of Provincial Parliament" has also been used to refer to members of the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1791 to 1838, and to members of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1955 to 1968. Before the adoption of this resolution, members had no fixed designation.
