Marie Wilson (born Katherine Elizabeth Wilson; August 19, 1916 – November 23, 1972) was an American radio, film, and television actress. She may be best remembered as the title character in ''My Friend Irma''. Early life Wilson was born in Anaheim, California, on August 19, 1916. Her nickname at Anaheim High School was "Maybelle". Wilson graduated from high school in 1933. Career Radio Although Wilson was afraid of the microphone used in radio, she played scatterbrained Irma Peterson in the radio comedy ''My Friend Irma'' from April 11, 1947, to August 23, 1954. Marie Wilson (born Marie Flevaras; October 12, 1974) is a Canadians, Canadian actress, known for her roles on the daytime soap operas ''Port Charles'' and ''As the World Turns''. In 2016, she starred on the NBC daytime soap opera ''Days of Our Lives'' in the role of Summer Townsend. Life and career Wilson was born in Athens, Greece, but raised in Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Ioannis (Nanos) Valaoritis ( el, Ιωάννης (Νάνος) Βαλαωρίτης; 5 July 1921 – 12 September 2019) was a Greek writer, widely published as a poet, novelist and playwright since 1939; his correspondence with George Seferis (''Allilographia 1945-1968'', Ypsilon, Athens 2004) was a bestseller. Mari Macmillan Ramsay Wilson (born 29 September 1954, Neasden, London) is a British pop and jazz singer. She is best known for her 1982 UK top-10 hit single "Just What I Always Wanted" and her 1960s image complete with beehive hairstyle. Career Recording on Compact Records with her backing band The Wilsations, Wilson scored six UK hit singles between 1982 and 1984. Her biggest hit, "Just What I Always Wanted" peaked at No. 8 in the UK Singles Chart in 1982. She was nominated for ARIA Award for Best New Talent and ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist – Single at the ARIA Music Awards of 1998 and for Breakthrough Artist – Album at the ARIA Music Awards of 1999. Marie Wilson is a journalist and public administrator who served as one of three commissioners of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC). Born in Petrolia, Ontario, Petrolia, Ontario, Wilson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French language and literature and a Master of Arts degree in journalism, both from the University of Western Ontario. She spent over 35 years working in journalism for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, including as regional director for CBC North and as adviser to the South African Broadcasting Corporation. In 2015, she served as a professor of practice at McGill University. Prior to her appointment to the TRC, she was employed by the Workers' Safety and Compensation Commission of the Northwest Territories as vice president for operations.
