Marie Schölzel
Marie Schölzel (born 1 August 1997) is a German volleyball player. She made her début in the national team in 2015, and since 2015 has been playing with Schweriner SC (nowadays SSC Palmberg Schwerin). Career Schölzel started her career at the age of 8 at . In 2011, she became the German champion in the under-16 group, and in 2014, champion in the under-18 and under-20 group. In 2015, Schölzel made her début in Germany women's national volleyball team in Montreux. In 2015, she started playing with Schweriner SC. In 2016/17, she reached the cup final with her team and became German champion. In 2018, she could not perform at the 2018 World Championship due to an injury. In the 2019/20 DVV-Pokal, the team reached the semi-finals. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. German Women's Volleyball League
The German Women's volleyball League or in ( German : Volleyball-Bundesliga der Frauen ) is the highest division in German women's volleyball. The German champion has been determined in this competition since the 1976/77 season. Current mode The women's Bundesliga is made up of 11 teams in the 2018/19 season. The last placed teams after the main round descends into the second division . The teams in the first eight places are qualified for the playoffs. Except for the playoff final ( best-of-five mode ), all games were first played in best-of-three mode . In the season 2018/19 the first time the semi-finals in the best-of-five mode was held. History The 2019/20 season was canceled on March 12, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic before the final round of the main-round. A championship title was not awarded, there were also no relegations. Schweriner SC, also known as SSC Schwerin, is a German sports club based in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is mostly known for its women's volleyball department which plays in the German Volleyball League having won it many times. 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship
The 2018 FIVB Women's World Championship was the eighteenth edition of the event, contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The final tournament was held in Japan from 29 September to 20 October 2018. The final four was held at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama. Serbia won their first world title, defeating Italy in five sets at the final. This was the first all-European final in the Women's World Championship history and the first final since 1990 that not featured a team from the Americas. COVID-19 Pandemic In Germany
The COVID-19 pandemic in Germany has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. On 27 January 2020, the first case in Germany was confirmed near Munich, Bavaria. By mid February, the arising cluster of cases had been fully contained. On 25 and 26 February, multiple cases related to the Italian outbreak were detected in Baden-Württemberg. A carnival event on 15 February in Heinsberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, was attended by a man identified as positive on 25 February; in the outbreak which subsequently developed from infected participants, authorities were mostly no longer able to trace the likely chains of infections.
