Marie Magdalene Bull
Marie Magdalene Bull née Midling (25 October 1827 – 17 July 1907) was a Norwegian actress who took a leading role in the first performance at Bergen's Det norske Theater. Following her marriage to the theatre's conductor Edvard Storm Bull, in 1851 she gave up acting to become a photographer, opening her own studio. Biography Born in Bergen on 25 October 1827, Marie Magdelene Midling was the daughter of the auctioneer Wilhelm Christian Midling and Maria Magdalena Herlufsen. She grew up in Bergen where, on 25 July 1849, she saw an advertisement in the paper announcing the opening of Det norske Theater, the country's first Norwegian-speaking theatre. It called for applications from those interested in working there. She immediately applied and was taken on as an actress and dancer, performing at the theatre's first rehearsal with an invited audience on 21 November 1849 and at the official opening on 2 January 1850. Ludvig Holberg
Ludvig Holberg, Baron of Holberg (3 December 1684 – 28 January 1754) was a writer, essayist, philosopher, historian and playwright born in Bergen, Norway, during the time of the Dano-Norwegian dual monarchy. He was influenced by Humanism, the Enlightenment and the Baroque. Holberg is considered the founder of modern Danish and Norwegian literature. He is best known for the comedies he wrote in 1722–1723 for the Lille Grønnegade Theatre in Copenhagen. Holberg's works about natural and common law were widely read by many Danish law students over two hundred years, from 1736 to 1936. Studies and teaching Holberg was the youngest of six brothers. Johannes Finne Brun (10 March 1832 – 7 March 1890) was a Norwegian stage actor. Brun was born in Verdal. He made his stage debut as the character "Henrik" in Holberg's comedy ''Den Vægelsindede'' on 2 January 1850, at the first ordinary performance at Ole Bull's Det norske Theater in Bergen. Ole Bull
Ole Bornemann Bull (; 5 February 181017 August 1880) was a Norwegian virtuoso violinist and composer. According to Robert Schumann, he was on a level with Niccolò Paganini for the speed and clarity of his playing. Biography Background Bull was born in Bergen, Norway. He was the eldest of ten children of Johan Storm Bull (1787–1838) and Anna Dorothea Borse Geelmuyden (1789–1875). His brother, Georg Andreas Bull became a noted Norwegian architect. He was also the uncle of Edvard Hagerup Bull, Norwegian judge and politician. His father wished for him to become a minister, but he desired a musical career. At the age of four or five, he could play all of the songs he had heard his mother play on the violin.
