Marie Azpiroz Mellini
Marie Azpiroz was a Spanish violinist. Azpiroz was born in Madrid, Spain, on November 27, 1889. She commenced study of the violin at age 5 at the Madrid Royal Conservatory, where she graduated with high honors after 6 years. She was recognized as performing before the young King and Queen Dowager of Spain as well as President Diaz of Mexico. She toured in Cuba, Mexico, South America, and the United States with numerous newspaper reviews between 1903 and 1910. On March 12, 1904 she performed benefit at Carnegie Music Hall. Around 1909 she settled in Los Angeles and taught at The Fillmore School of Music. In 1914 Azpiroz married Frederick Mellini and they had two children. Frederick and Marie performed together with the Metropolitan Grand Opera Company. Between 1909 and 1919, many photographs were taken of Azpiroz by Charles F Lummis and those are currently housed in the Braun Research Library Collection, Autry Museum of the American West. Madrid Royal Conservatory
The Madrid Royal Conservatory ( es, Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid) is a music college in Madrid, Spain. History The Royal Conservatory of Music was founded on July 15, 1830, by royal decree, and was originally located in Mostenses Square, Madrid. In 1852 it was moved to the Royal Opera, where it remained until the building was condemned by royal order and classes ordered to halt in 1925. For the next sixty-five years, the school had no fixed home, operating in a variety of locations. Since 1990, the Conservatory has officially lived in a restored 18th-century building (previously ''San Carlos'' Royal Hospital) in front of Queen Sofia Museum. Autry Museum Of The American West
The Autry Museum of the American West is a museum in Los Angeles, California, dedicated to exploring an inclusive history of the American West. Founded in 1988, the museum presents a wide range of exhibitions and public programs, including lectures, film, theater, festivals, family events, and music, and performs scholarship, research, and educational outreach. It has two sites and attracts about 150,000 visitors annually. In 2013, it extensively redesigned and renovated the Irene Helen Jones Parks Gallery of Art and the Gamble Firearms Gallery in its main building.
