Mariage (card Game)
() or Mariagenspiel is a German 6-card trick-and-draw game for two players in which players score bonus points for the "marriage" of King and Queen of the same suit. The game, first documented in 1715 in Leipzig, spawned numerous offshoots throughout continental Europe and gives its name to the Marriage group of card games, the widest known of which is probably Sixty-Six. Many of these are still the national card games of their respective countries. It is unrelated to the Nepalese game of Marriage. History Parlett notes that "despite claims for its invention at Paderborn, Westphalia, in 1652, it is not attested earlier than 1715," although Kozietulski stated in 1888 that it had been popular in Poland for two centuries which dates its appearance there to the late 17th century and he doubts it is of Polish origin on account of its French name and the marriage feature which appears in old French games. Claude Lelouch
Claude Barruck Joseph Lelouch (; born 30 October 1937) is a French film director, screenwriter, writer, cinematographer, actor and film producer, producer. Lelouch grew up in an Algerian Jewish Family. He emerged as a prominent director in the 1960s. Lelouch gained critical acclaim for his 1966 romantic melodrama film ''A Man and a Woman, A Man and A Woman''. At the 39th Academy Awards in 1967, ''A Man and a Woman'' won Best Original Screenplay and Best Foreign Language Film. Lelouch was also nominated for Best Director. While his films have gained him international recognition since the 1960s, Lelouch's methods and style of film are known for attracting criticism. Life and career Lelouch was born in the 9th arrondissement of Paris to Charlotte (née Abeilard) and Simon Lelouch. His father was born to an Algerian Jewish family while his mother was a Conversion to Judaism, convert to Judaism. Kadril
Kadril is a Belgian folk group formed in 1976 from the then youth and nature movement Wielewaaljongeren. The group name refers to the salon dance Quadrille, transliterated into Flemish as Kwadril or Kadril. History Kadril started with Erwin, Peter and Harlind Libbrecht, along with Bart de Cock. Hans Quaghebeur soon joined the group. The five original members are still the core of the group. Kadril initially began playing Irish and French music before being persuaded to play Flemish music by Herman Dewitt of the Flemish folk band :nl: 't Kliekske. Prior to the release of their self-titled LP in 1986, they performed at fairs and neighbourhood parties. Kadril was invited to participate in the Radio 1 production (with Dree Peremans). This was their initial collaboration with Patrick Riguelle. In 1990, their folk and folk-rock album ''De Vogel in de muite'' was released.
