Maria Sødahl
Maria Sødahl (born 31 December 1965) is a Norwegian film director and screenwriter who is best known for her internationally acclaimed film '' Hope'' (2019) and ''Limbo'' (2010). The former earned her the nomination of European Film Award for Best Director in 2020. Career Sødahl debuted with the film ''Limbo'' in 2010. It was well-received and earned ten nominations at Amanda Awards, Norway's top film Awards. After a long hiatus of 9 years, she returned with the film '' Hope'', which deals with a woman surviving cancer. It was set for a World Premiere at Toronto Film Festival. The film was selected as Norway's Official Submissions to Academy Awards. Personal life Sødahl is married to film director Hans Petter Moland, with whom she has three children. ''Hope'' ( no, Håp) is a 2019 Norwegian semi-autobiographical drama film directed by Maria Sødahl, based on the experience she faced with her husband, director Hans Petter Moland, when, nine years earlier, she had received a terminal diagnosis of brain cancer and was given by doctors only three months to live. The film was selected as the Norwegian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, making the shortlist of fifteen films. The film premiered at the 44th Toronto International Film Festival on 7 September 2019 and was first theatrically released in Norway on 22 November 2019. Hans Petter Moland
Hans Petter Moland (born 17 October 1955) is a Norwegian film director. Moland was born in Oslo. He had received awards for his commercials at major festivals, including Cannes, before he made his feature debut in 1993 with '' The Last Lieutenant''. He followed up with '' Zero Kelvin'' (1995), ''Aberdeen'' (2000) and ''The Beautiful Country'' (2004), which was selected for Competition in Berlin. He also directed the short film ''United We Stand'', which has been awarded prizes at several major film festivals. He is also well known for his collaboration and deep friendship with Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, having directed him in three movies; ''Zero Kelvin'', ''Aberdeen'' and ''En ganske snill mann'' (2010), the latter being nominated for the Golden Bear at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival.
