Maria Pilar Busquets i Medan ( oc, Maria Pilar Busquets e Medan; 23 March 1937 – 13 November 2016) was a Spanish Aranese politician and writer, 1st Síndic d'Aran ("Head of the Government of the Valley") between 1991 and 1993. Career Busquets worked in the hotel sector. She was the Gold Flower at the Floral Games of the ''Escola deras Pirenèos'' of Gascony and in the literary and poetry contest of the Ethnological Museum of the Aran Valley. She was a member of the Official Commission for Linguistic Normalization of Aranès, a founding member of the Es Tersús Neighborhood Association of the Vall d'Aran and head of culture from 1977 to 1980; she was president of the Association Pro Defense of the Trans-Pyrenean Axis by the Natural Step of the Valley of Aran. Parliament Of Catalonia
The Parliament of Catalonia ( ca, Parlament de Catalunya, ; es, Parlamento de Cataluña; oc, Parlament de Catalonha) is the unicameral legislature of the autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. The Parliament is currently made up of 135 members, known as deputies (''diputats''/''deputats''/''diputados''), who are elected for four-year terms or after extraordinary dissolution, chosen by universal suffrage in lists of four constituencies, corresponding to the Catalan provinces. The Parliament building is located in Ciutadella Park, Barcelona. Convergence and Union ( ca, Convergència i Unió, CiU; ) was a Catalan nationalist electoral alliance in Catalonia, Spain. It was a federation of two constituent parties, the larger Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC) and its smaller counterpart, the Democratic Union of Catalonia (UDC). It was dissolved on 17 June 2015. CiU was a Catalan nationalist coalition. It was usually seen as a moderate nationalist party in Spain, although a significant part of its membership had shifted to open Catalan independentism in recent years and in 2014 demonstrated its intention to hold a referendum on Catalan independence. Carles Puigdemont i Casamajó (; born 29 December 1962) is a Catalan politician and journalist from Spain. Since 2019 he has served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). Mireia Boya Busquet (born 1979) is a Catalan scientist, activist, and politician from Spain. She is a councilor of the Aran municipality of Les. Since February 2018 she has been part of the national secretariat of the Popular Unity Candidacy (CUP). She was a member of the Catalan Parliament from 2016 to 2017. Biography The daughter of Ernesto Boya and the politician Maria Pilar Busquets, she has a degree in Environmental Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2002), a master's degree in Landscape Design (2004), and a PhD in Land Management and Planning (2009) from the Université de Montréal. Aranese ( oc, aranés) is a standardized form of the Pyrenean Gascon variety of the Occitan language spoken in the Val d'Aran, in northwestern Catalonia close to the Spanish border with France, where it is one of the three official languages beside Catalan and Spanish. In 2010, it was declared the third official language in Catalonia by the Parliament of Catalonia. The official names of towns in Val d'Aran are Occitan; for example, the Occitan name ''Vielha'' is used on maps and road signs instead of the Catalan and Spanish ''Viella''.
