Marguerite Clayton
Marguerite Clayton (born Margaret Fitzgerald; April 12, 1891 – December 20, 1968) was an American actress of the silent era. She appeared in more than 170 films between 1909 and 1928, many of which were westerns with Broncho Billy Anderson and Harry Carey. Biography Margaret Fitzgerald was born in Ogden, Utah, on April 12, 1891 and attended St. Mary's Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah. He father was a mining engineer. In 1909, Clayton made her first films, ''A Mexican's Gratitude'' and ''The Heart of a Cowboy'', with Anderson. Her film career ended in 1928. Her employers included Essanay. Clayton died in Los Angeles, California, in a road accident. She was buried with her husband Major General Victor Bertrandias in Arlington National Cemetery. Moving Picture World
The ''Moving Picture World'' was an influential early trade journal for the American film industry, from 1907 to 1927. An industry powerhouse at its height, ''Moving Picture World'' frequently reiterated its independence from the film studios. In 1911, the magazine bought out ''Views and Film Index''. Its reviews illustrate the standards and tastes of film in its infancy, and shed light on story content in those early days. By 1914, it had a reported circulation of approximately 15,000. The publication was founded by James Petrie (J.P.) Chalmers, Jr. (1866–1912), who began publishing in March 1907 as ''The Moving Picture World and View Photographer''. In December 1927, it was announced that the publication was merging with the ''Exhibitor's Herald'', when it was reported the combined circulation of the papers would be 16,881. It was directed by George Archainbaud and stars Elaine Hammerstein. Wolf Blood
''Wolf Blood'', also known as ''Wolfblood: A Tale of the Forest'', is an American silent 1925 werewolf film starring George Chesebro, who also co-directed it with B-serial veteran Bruce M. Mitchell. The film has been referenced in a number of books as being the first werewolf movie ever made. This however is erroneous; the first werewolf movie is '' The Werewolf'', a film made in 1913. However that film is considered to be lost. Therefore, ''Wolf Blood'' could be called the earliest surviving werewolf film. Although this film is labeled as a horror, there is very little in the feature film to be qualified as a horror film. Instead the film focuses more on romance and archaic action rather than suspense and fear as we have seen in other horror films of the time. The film is said to have more in common with westerns and adventure films of the 1920s.This film's importance to the genre of horror comes more so from its historical importance rather than historical impact. ''Canyon of the Fools'' is a 1923 American silent Western film directed by Val Paul and starring Harry Carey that was released by Film Booking Offices of America (F.B.O.). Plot As described in a film magazine, Robert McCarthy (Carey) beats his way on a passenger train to a mining camp located near an unexplored waste called the Canyon of the Fools.
