Margrét Kara Sturludóttir
Margrét Kara Sturludóttir (born 2 September 1989) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. She won the Icelandic championship in 2008 and 2010 and was named the Úrvalsdeild Domestic Player of the Year in 2011. Playing career Margrét Kara started her senior career with Njarðvík in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna during the 2003–2004 season before joining Keflavík in 2005. In 2008, Margrét Kara joined Elon University She left the University in December that year and signed with KR in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. In her first game with KR, she had 17 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 blocks and 4 steals in a victory against Snæfell. She was named the best player of the first half of the 2008–2009 season and helped KR reach the Úrvalsdeild finals where it lost to Haukar 2-3. Teitur Örlygsson
Teitur Örlygsson (born 9 January 1967) is an Icelandic former professional basketball player and a coach. During his career he won the Icelandic national championships ten times with Njarðvík and the Icelandic Basketball Cup seven times. He spent the 1996–1997 season with Gymnastikos S. Larissas B.C. of the Greek Basketball League. Icelandic national team Between 1986 and 2000, Teitur played 118 games for the Icelandic national basketball team. Coaching career Teitur started his coaching career with Njarðvík nine games into the 1992–1993 season when he finished the season as a player-coach after the firing of head coach Poul Coltin. He was again a player-coach for Njarðvík, this time along with Friðrik Ragnarsson, when the team won the national championship in 2001. Örlygur Aron Sturluson
Örlygur Aron Sturluson (21 May 1981 – 16 January 2000) was an Icelandic basketball player, who played for Njarðvík in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild where he won the national championship in 1998. He started playing for the Icelandic national team in 1999 and was considered one of the most promising prospects in Icelandic basketball at the time of his death. Career Playing career Örlygur started playing basketball at the age of 8 with Ungmennafélag Njarðvíkur. He broke into the starting lineup of Úrvalsdeild powerhouse Njarðvík in 1997 at the age of 16. His first game came against ÍA where he had 10 points and 7 assists. The Iceland men's national basketball team ( is, Íslenska karlalandsliðið í körfubolta) represents Iceland in international basketball tournaments. The team is controlled by the Icelandic Basketball Association. Iceland has qualified for the EuroBasket twice, with the national team making their first ever appearance in 2015. They also participate at smaller European tournaments, such as the Games of the Small States of Europe. Benedikt Rúnar Guðmundsson (born 19 August 1972) is an Icelandic professional basketball coach for Úrvalsdeild karla club Njarðvík and the Icelandic women's national basketball team.
