Margaret Lindsay Faull
Margaret Lindsay Faull, (born 4 April 1946) is an Australian-British archaeologist and museum director, noted for her work on Anglo-Saxon England and industrial archaeology. Biography Faull was born on 4 April 1946 and grew up in Sydney. She undertook a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in the Department of Archaeology, University of Leeds. Her doctoral thesis was titled "British survival in Anglo-Saxon Yorkshire" and was completed in 1979. Faull worked as an archaeologist for what was at the time the West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council, followed by employment at Thwaite Mills Industrial Museum in Leeds. In 1986, she supported the banning of South African archaeologists from the World Archaeological Congress as part of the Academic boycott of South Africa in opposition to apartheid. The World Archaeological Congress (WAC) is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization which promotes world archaeology. It is the only global archaeological organisation with elected representation. Officer Of The Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order.
