Oreste Marengo
Oreste Marengo (29 August 1906 - 30 July 1998) was an Italian Roman Catholic prelate and professed member from the Salesians of Don Bosco. He served as the Bishop of Diburugarh from 1951 until his transferral in 1964 to Tezpur where he served until 1969. From that point until 1979 he served as the apostolic administrator for the new Tura see. He was dedicated since his childhood to joining the missions and in his late adolescence was permitted to go to the missions in India. Marengo often trekked on foot to remote villages where he evangelized to the people and provided for their educational needs as best he could. He was reluctant to accept his episcopal nomination but did not cease his catechizing and evangelizing in his dioceses. Lina Marengo (19 January 1911 – 6 February 1987) was an Italian character actress. She played in over 30 films, and was most active between 1938 and 1943. Biography Marengo was born in Rome and her film debut was in '' Casta Diva'' (1935), directed by Carmine Gallone. Characterized by a slightly hoarse voice, she was mainly active in humorous roles, and was often typecast as a spinster or a gossiping woman. She played Serafina in '' Domani è troppo tardi'' (1950), directed by Léonide Moguy, and starring Vittorio De Sica, Lois Maxwell, Gabrielle Dorziat, and Pier Angeli. The film won Best Italian Film at the Venice Film Festival. She was in four films directed by De Sica, including ''Teresa Venerdì'' (1941). Kimon Evan Marengo (February 4, 1904 – November 4, 1988), better known for his pen name Kem, was a British cartoonist who was born in Zifta, Egypt. He was the son of Evangelos Marangos, a Greek cotton merchant. Marengo grew up in the Greek community in Alexandria, Egypt. In his childhood he produced his own satirical hobby magazine. In 1929 he went to study at the ''Ecole des Sciences Politiques'' in Paris, graduating in 1931. Jacob Morenga, also Jakob, Jacobus, Marengo, and Marenga, known as the "black Napoleon", (1875 – 20 September 1907) was an important figure in Namibia, then the German colony of German South West Africa. He was chief leader in the insurrection against the German Empire which took place between 1904 and 1908, and was best known for forging an alliance between the rival Herero and Namaqua tribes. Morenga/Marengo was born to a Herero mother and Nama father and was educated by Christian missionaries and worked as a mineworker in South Africa. Before the Herero and Namaqua War of 1904–1907, Morenga had participated in smaller, more localized insurrections which were taking place across German South West Africa.
