Austin Mardon
Austin Albert Mardon, Ph.D. (born 25 June 1962) is an author, community leader, and advocate for mental health. He is an assistant adjunct professor at the John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre at the University of Alberta. In the mid 80's, he founded and today still directs the Antarctic Institute of Canada, a non-profit entity based in Edmonton, Alberta. He is currently married to lawyer and activist Catherine Mardon, and has co-written several books with her. Biography Family history Mardon's paternal grandfather, Austin Mardon, attended Cambridge University prior to becoming a professor in comparative classics and history. With his wife, Marie, Mardon's grandfather purchased Ardross Castle in Scotland, which remained in the Mardon family until 1983. Ernest George Mardon
Ernest George Mardon (1928 – 6 March 2016) was an English professor who worked at the University of Lethbridge. He has several dozen books, mostly on the history of Alberta, Canada. Born in Houston, Texas in 1928 to Professor Austin Mardon and Marie Dickey, Dr. Ernest G. Mardon was educated at Gordonstoun, Scotland, before attending Trinity College in Dublin. After that he was called up for military service in the Korean War as an officer with the Gordon Highlanders,Biographical note in "The Mormon Contribution to Alberta Politics," Golden Meteorite Press, Edmonton, Alberta, 2011 serving with that outfit in the Suez Canal Zone, Cyprus, Libya, from 1952 to 1954. Geoff Mardon
Geoffrey Cyril Mardon (24 November 1927 – 6 August 2015) was a New Zealand motorcycle speedway rider. He rode for the Aldershot Shots, the Wimbledon Dons and the Southampton Saints. Career Mardon began riding at the Aranui Speedway in Christchurch in 1949, the same track that would later start the careers of World Champions and fellow Christchurch natives Barry Briggs and Ivan Mauger. He moved to England in 1951 and joined the third division team, Aldershot. He qualified as second reserve for the 1951 World Final. The following year he moved up the first division to ride for the Wimbledon Dons. He rode in the 1953 World Final and finished in 3rd place. In 1954 Mardon was the third highest individual points scorer in the National League. He rode in the World final again and he won the Brandonapolis at Coventry. Paul Jonathan Mardon (born 14 September 1969) is a former professional footballer who made 270 appearances in the Football League playing as a central defender. He was capped once for the Wales national team, against Germany in October 1995. Career Mardon was born in Bristol, and started his professional career in 1987 with hometown club Bristol City. He scored once for the club, at the age of 19, away to Nottingham Forest in the semi-final of the League Cup on 15 February 1989. Weather Wizard made his first live appearance in the television series ''The Flash'', played by actor Liam McIntyre, who played Mark Mardon.
