Marden High School
Marden High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Cullercoats, Tyne and Wear, England. The Marden City Learning Centre, opened 15 July 2003, is situated on the grounds in front of the school. In 2015 the school began building a new school building through the Priority Schools Building Programme. This was completed in 2016. The older building was demolished and replaced with a car park and field. This work was fully completed in 2017. is a Latin aphorism, usually translated "seize the day", taken from book 1 of the Roman poet Horace's work ''Odes'' (23 BC). Translation is the second-person singular present active imperative of '' carpō'' "pick or pluck" used by Horace to mean "enjoy, seize, use, make use of". Marion Fawkes (born 3 December 1948) is a British former racewalker. She was the first official female world champion in racewalking through her victory at the 1979 IAAF World Race Walking Cup. Carol Malia is a broadcaster and journalist who has presented the north eastern version of BBC regional news programme Look North since 1997. Early life Malia was born in Tynemouth and raised in Cullercoats. She attended Monkhouse Primary School in North Shields, then Marden High School, and after her A-Levels, she studied journalism at Darlington College, before becoming a junior reporter on the Hartlepool Mail newspaper.
