Marcus Pohlmann
Marcus Dale Pohlmann (born 1950) is an American political scientist, author, and professor. His research focuses primarily on American government and politics, specifically, African-American politics, Urban politics in the United States, urban politics, and political economy. He is an emeritus professor of political science at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. Career Pohlmann has taught at Bates College, Yerevan State University (as a Fulbright Program, Fulbright Senior Lecturer), The College of Wooster, Arkansas State University, and Rhodes College. He began his tenure at Rhodes in 1986 and served as chair of the school's Department of Political Science for 16 years. Pohlmann was awarded the Rhodes College Clarence Day Award for Research, the Clarence Day Award for Teaching, and the Jameson Jones Award for Service. Davenport, Iowa
Davenport is a city in and the county seat of Scott County, Iowa, United States. Located along the Mississippi River on the eastern border of the state, it is the largest of the Quad Cities, a metropolitan area with a population of 384,324 and a combined statistical area population of 474,019, ranking as the 147th-largest MSA and 91st-largest CSA in the nation. A mock trial is an act or imitation trial. It is similar to a moot court, but mock trials simulate lower-court trials, while moot court simulates appellate court hearings. Attorneys preparing for a real trial might use a mock trial consisting of volunteers as role players to test theories or experiment with each other. Mock trial is also the name of an extracurricular program in which students participate in rehearsed trials to learn about the legal system in a competitive manner. Interscholastic mock trials take place on all levels including primary school, middle school, high school, college, and law school. The Caucus for a New Political Science (CNPS) was first founded in 1967 as a caucus, and then a formal section, within the American Political Science Association (APSA). APSA is the official professional organization of political scientists in the United States, with over 15,000 members worldwide. CNPS’ membership rolls at present indicate between 425-475 members. The CNPS emerged to challenge the principle of neutrality contained in the APSA by-laws and to encourage political activism among those in the profession.
