Marcos Freitas
Marcos André Sousa da Silva Freitas (born 8 April 1988) is a Portuguese table tennis player who has won European Championships in singles, doubles, and team events. He participated at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing where he got knocked out in the Round of 64. In the same year he won the bronze medal in the men's doubles at the European Championship with Tiago Apolónia. Three years later at the 2011 Table Tennis European Championships he went on to win the gold medal with his doubles partner Andrej Gaćina. In 2012 he took part on his second Olympics, reaching the Round of 32 in the singles and the quarterfinals in the team event with Tiago Apolónia and João Monteiro. In June 2015, he competed in the inaugural European Games, for Portugal in table tennis, more specifically, Men's team with João Geraldo and Tiago Apolonia. He earned a gold medal. Tiago André Barata Feio Peixoto Apolónia (born 28 July 1986) is a Portuguese table tennis player for German club TTF LIEBHERR Ochsenhausen and Portugal. As of August 2016, he is ranked the number eighteenth player in the world. Career Born in Lisbon, Apolónia began playing table tennis aged six at his hometown club Estrela da Amadora. As a youth player, he was crowned European Junior Doubles champion in 2004 and won a silver medal in the Doubles competition at the Junior World Championships in 2003, both partnering Marcos Freitas. After playing for German clubs TTC indeland Jülich, 1. FC Saarbrücken and TTF LIEBHERR Ochsenhausen, he arrived at his current club TTC Neu-Ulm in 2019. European Champions League (table Tennis)
European Champions League (ECL) is the seasonal table tennis competition for the highest ranked European club teams and is regarded as the most important international club competition in Europe. It is organised by the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) and replaced the European Club Cup of Champions (ECCC), the previous prominent club competition, since the 1998/99 season. Originally there was only a men's competition; a women's competition was introduced in the 2005/06 season. The competition starts in September and the champions are usually determined in May in recent years. German club Borussia Düsseldorf is the most successful club in the history of the men's competition, having won the competition seven times and being the runners-up three times, while Belgian club La Villette Charleroi and Russian club Fakel Gazprom both have won five titles. Portugal participated at the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 12 to 28 June 2015, with a delegation of 100 athletes that competed in 14 sports. On 10 April 2015, the Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP) announced that the country had secured 99 athlete quota places in 13 sports, with the possibility of increasing this number by the deadline for inscription of athletes (30 April 2015). The 2015 European Games, also known as Baku 2015 or Baku 2015 European Games ( az, Bakı 2015 Avropa Oyunları), were the inaugural edition of the European Games, an international multi-sport event for athletes representing the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the European Olympic Committees. It took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 12 to 28 June 2015, and featured almost 6,000 athletes from 50 countries competing in 30 sports, including 15 summer Olympic and 2 non-Olympic sports. João Monteiro (table Tennis)
João Pedro Andrade Selgas Monteiro (born 29 August 1983) is a Portuguese table tennis player. At the 2015 European Championships, he won the gold medal in the Doubles competition. He also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Table tennis at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's singles, Men's singles, but was defeated in the second round. This was a round further than he managed at the 2008 Summer Olympics. João Monteiro practices at the Werner Schlager Academy in Schwechat, Austria since the opening in 2011.
