Marco Ferreri
Marco Ferreri (11 May 1928 – 9 May 1997) was an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor, who began his career in the 1950s directing three films in Spain, followed by 24 Italian films before his death in 1997. He is considered one of the greatest European cinematic provocateurs of his time and had a constant presence in prestigious festival circuit - including eight films in competition in Cannes Film Festival and a Golden Bear win in 1991 Berlin Film Festival. Three of his films are among 100 film italiani da salvare, 100 films selected for preservation for significant contribution to Italian cinema. Biography He was born in Milan. His best known film is ''La Grande Bouffe'' from 1973, starring Marcello Mastroianni, Michel Piccoli, Philippe Noiret and Ugo Tognazzi. Michel Piccoli
Jacques Daniel Michel Piccoli (27 December 1925 – 12 May 2020) was a French actor, producer and film director with a career spanning 70 years. He was lauded as one of the greatest French character actors of his generation who played a wide variety of roles and worked with many acclaimed directors, being awarded with a Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival and a Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin Film Festival. Life and career Piccoli was born in Paris to a musical family; his French mother was a pianist and his Swiss father was a violinist from the canton of Ticino. He appeared in many different roles, from seducer to cop to gangster to Pope, in more than 170 movies. Los Chicos (film)
Los Chicos (also known as Los Chicos de Puerto Rico) were a Puerto Rican boy band that was popular in Puerto Rico, South America and in Central America during the early to mid 1980s, which was created to rival Menudo's success. The band was created by Eric Laboy in 1978, with the name Encuentro. Due to a political campaign slogan, the name was changed to Los Chicos, which translates to ''The Kids'' by Mr. Carlos Alfonso Ramirez who took ownership and managed the boy band. They enjoyed huge success during the early 1980s, under the new management particularly in Puerto Rico South America and Central America. 30th Berlin International Film Festival
The 30th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 18–29 February 1980. The Golden Bear was awarded to the American film ''Heartland'' directed by Richard Pearce and West German film '' Palermo oder Wolfsburg'' directed by Werner Schroeter. The retrospective was dedicated to American filmmaker Billy Wilder along with a 3D films retrospective. Moritz de Hadeln became the director of the festival and increased the efforts in expansion of Berlin film market. To ease tensions with the Soviet Union due to the Cold War era at the moment, the organizers decided to withdraw the films ''Ninotchka'' and ''One, Two, Three'' from the Billy Wilder retrospective.
