Marcelo Alonso
Marcelo Alejandro Alonso Claro (born 19 March 1969) is a Chilean actor and theater director. Alonso has a degree in Acting from the Theater Department of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile. In 1994, he debuted in the ''Champaña'' television series on Channel 13, however they were only recurring appearances. In 2004 he joined the cast of the evening television series ''Los Pincheira'', and since that year he has established himself as a stable actor within the television series of the Dramatic Area of TVN. Since 2015, he has starred in the productions ''La poseída'', ''El camionero'' (2016) and ''Wena profe'' (2017). Valeria Sarmiento
Valeria Sarmiento (born 29 October 1948) is a film editor, director and screenwriter best known for her work in France, Portugal and her native Chile. She has worked both in film and television, directing 20 feature films, documentaries and television series'. She is the widow of Chilean film director Raúl Ruiz (1941-2011) with whom she collaborated for decades as regular editor and co-writer. She has also edited films for Luc Moullet, Robert Kramer and Ventura Pons and is a Guggenheim Fellow (1988). Biography Sarmiento was born in the Chilean municipality of Valparaíso and was first exposed to film at the age of five, becoming familiar with the work of Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock and others. Marialy Rivas
Marialy Rivas is a Chilean screenwriter and film director, known for her 2012 film '' Young and Wild'', winner of the World Cinema Screenwriting Award in Sundance Film Festival. She grew up in Chile during a violent dictatorship under Augusto Pinochet. Rivas is openly lesbian and has commented publicly that, "In Chile, it is of good taste not to say that you are gay, even if everybody knows it. People are usually infuriated by your sexuality if you are open. Nobody wants to know, so nobody wants to tell." Career She studied in the School of Cinema of Chile, but withdrew in the third year. ''The Club'' ( es, El Club) is a 2015 Chilean drama film directed, co-produced and co-written by Pablo Larraín. It was screened in the main competition of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Jury Grand Prix. It was selected as the Chilean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards but it was not nominated. Plot Four retired Catholic priests share a secluded house in the outskirts of a small Chilean beach town under the supervision of a vigilant female caretaker who used to be a nun. Alejandro Jodorowsky
Alejandro Jodorowsky Prullansky (; born 17 February 1929) is a Chilean-French avant-garde filmmaker. Best known for his 1970s films '' El Topo'' and '' The Holy Mountain'', Jodorowsky has been "venerated by cult cinema enthusiasts" for his work which "is filled with violently surreal images and a hybrid blend of mysticism and religious provocation". Born to Jewish-Ukrainian parents in Chile, Jodorowsky experienced an unhappy and alienated childhood, and so immersed himself in reading and writing poetry. ''The Dance of Reality'' ( es, La danza de la realidad) is a 2013 Chilean- French semi-autobiographical musical fantasy drama film written, produced, and directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky, starring Brontis Jodorowsky, Pamela Flores, and Jeremias Herskovits. Jorge Olguín is a Chilean director who works mainly in fantasy and horror. Career His first film, '' Ángel Negro'', was a student film. Olguín filmed it while he studied cinema in the University with a budget of $25,000. This film was commercially released in 2000 and attracted attention in Chile by its unusual advertising campaign. Natascha Maria Kampusch (born 17 February 1988) is an Austrian author and former talk show host. At the age of 10, on 2 March 1998, she was abducted and held in a secret cellar by her kidnapper Wolfgang Přiklopil for more than eight years, until she escaped on 23 August 2006. Upon her escape, Přiklopil killed himself by walking in front of a train at a nearby station.
