Marcel Sisniega
Marcel Sisniega Campbell (July 28, 1959 – January 19, 2013) was a Mexican chess Grandmaster and film director. Sisniega was born in Chicago but grew up in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Sisniega earned the International Master title in 1978 and the Grandmaster title in 1992. Sisniega was a nine-time Mexican champion and three-time Carlos Torre Repetto Memorial winner. During his chess career he beat Viswanathan Anand, Artur Yusupov, Miguel Illescas and Jesús Nogueiras amongst others. He largely stopped playing after the early 1990s. He was also a film writer and director. He is most recognized for his work in creating "Libre de Culpas" in 1997. His brother is modern pentathlete and politician Ivar Sisniega, and his children are Mexican-American actress Sofía Sisniega, Vera, David and Julian Sisniega. Sofía Sisniega
Sofía Sisniega (born 7 June 1989) is a Mexican actress, best known for her role as ''Sofia López-Haro'' in the 2013 Mexican adaptation, '' Gossip Girl: Acapulco''. Early life Sisniega was born in Cuernavaca, Mexico. She began acting in local community theatre productions aged four. She performed four times a week at bookstores as part of a children's theatre group in Mexico. Her late father was Marcel Sisniega Campbell, a Mexican Grandmaster chess player and independent film director. She has dual-citizenship in the United States and Mexico and was raised in both countries. At 17, she was accepted in the Conservatory at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City. Ivar Sisniega Campbell (born 29 May 1958) is a Mexican modern pentathlete, politician, and businessman. He competed at the 1980, 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics. He was formerly the head of CONADE as Sports minister under President Ernesto Zedillo from 1994 to 2000, where he created the National Youth Olympics, as well as Executive President of C.D. Guadalajara from 2002 to 2006. In 2015, he was briefly the interim President of the Pan American Sports Organization, following the death of former president Mario Vázquez Raña.
