Claude Victor André Marcel Knight, Leg Hon (1793-17 January 1876) was a French diplomat and language teacher who served in Cork as an official representative of the French government between 1816 and c. 1864 and was additionally a teacher of French and the author of a two-volume study of language education published in London in 1853 under the title ''Language as a Means of Mental Culture and International Communication; or, Manual of the Teacher and the Learner of Languages''. Marcelling is a hair styling technique in which hot curling tongs are used to induce a curl into the hair. Its appearance was similar to that of a finger wave but it is created using a different method. Marcelled hair was a popular style for women's hair in the 1920s, often in conjunction with a bob cut. For those women who had longer hair, it was common to tie the hair at the nape of the neck and pin it above the ear with a stylish hair pin or flower. One famous wearer was Josephine Baker. History Accounts vary about the invention of the style, but Marcel Grateau (October 18, 1852–May 31, 1936) is widely credited with inventing the hair styling technique in the 1870s (differing accounts report 1872 or 1875). Her's
Her's were an indie rock band from Liverpool, England, composed of Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading. The band's debut full-length LP '' Invitation to Her's'' was released in August 2018, following the compilation LP '' Songs of Her's'' which had been released in May 2017. The duo were killed in the early hours of 27 March 2019 in a road traffic collision in Arizona, while on tour in the United States. Germany was represented by Heidi Brühl, with the song "Marcel", at the 1963 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 23 March in London. Brühl was selected internally as the German performer, and the song was chosen at the national final on 28 February. Brühl had previously finished runner-up in the German national final in 1960, but her song "Wir wollen niemals auseinandergehn" had gone on to become one of the biggest hits of the year, topping the German singles chart for several weeks. Marcel (foaled 25 March 2013) is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. He won two of his three starts as a juvenile in 2015 including the Racing Post Trophy. After failing in the 2000 Guineas on his only run of 2016 he was retired from racing. Background Marcel is a dark bay colt with a white sock on his left hind leg, bred by David Hyland at the Oghill House Stud in County Kildare. He is from the fifth crop of foals sired by Lawman who won the Prix du Jockey Club and the Prix Jean Prat in 2006.
