Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (french: Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec; abbreviated ''QMJHL'' in English, ''LHJMQ'' in French) is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League. The league includes teams in the provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. The current president of the QMJHL is Gilles Courteau. The President's Cup is the championship trophy of the league. The QMJHL champion then goes on to compete in the Memorial Cup against the OHL and WHL champions, and the CHL host team. The QMJHL had traditionally adopted a rapid and offensive style of hockey. Former QMJHL players hold many of the Canadian Hockey League's career and single season offensive records. Jérémy Grégoire
Jérémy Grégoire (born September 5, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre currently playing for the Vienna Capitals of the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). Grégoire was drafted 176th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to turning professional, Grégoire played for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) where he twice won the Marcel Robert Trophy as QMJHL Scholastic Player of the Year. Playing career Amateur Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Grégoire moved to Texas and Oklahoma for his father's hockey career before returning to Quebec. Alexandre Picard-Hooper
Alexandre Picard-Hooper (born May 25, 1987) is a Canadian financial advisor and former professional ice hockey player. He most recently played for the Cornwall River Kings of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH) in the 2012–13 season. The Baie-Comeau Drakkar selected Picard-Hooper in the 6th round of the 2004 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) draft after playing parts of two seasons for College Charles-Lemoyne. Picard-Hooper played 3 seasons in Baie-Comeau, scoring 114 times and adding 141 assists in 207 games. He was named the QMJHL and CHL Scholastic Player of the Year in 2007, his third and final season with the Drakkar. Following that season, Picard-Hooper was then traded to the Saint John Sea Dogs. The 2006–07 QMJHL season was the 38th season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The regular season ran from September 14, 2006 to March 18, 2007. The 2007–08 QMJHL season was the 39th season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. At the season-opening press conference, the QMJHL announced in partnership with Telus that all 630 regular season games would be available by Internet broadcast. The regular season started on September 13, 2007, and concluded on March 16, 2008. Eighteen teams played seventy games each. The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies finished first overall in the regular season winning their first Jean Rougeau Trophy. They would go on to win 12-straight playoff games before losing in five games in the finals to the Gatineau Olympiques, who captured their seventh President's Cup, and third in the last six seasons. Saint John Sea Dogs
The Saint John Sea Dogs are a major junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The team was founded as an expansion team in 2005 and play at TD Station in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. The Sea Dogs became the first team from Atlantic Canada to win a Memorial Cup championship, with a 2011 Memorial Cup victory. In June 2022, the Sea Dogs won the 2022 Memorial Cup. The team has also won three President's Cup championships in 2011, 2012 and 2017. Cape Breton Screaming Eagles
The Cape Breton Eagles are a major junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Their home rink is Centre 200 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. History The franchise was originally granted to the Sorel Éperviers (Black Hawks) for the 1969–70 season. They then moved from Sorel to Verdun in 1977 to become the Verdun Éperviers. In 1979, they played in both Sorel and Verdun before moving back to Sorel for the next season. In 1981, they moved to Granby to become the Granby Bisons, and in 1995 changed their names to the Granby Prédateurs. In 1996, the Prédateurs won the Memorial Cup. In 1997, the franchise was relocated to Sydney to become the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
