Claude Victor André Marcel Knight, Leg Hon (1793-17 January 1876) was a French diplomat and language teacher who served in Cork as an official representative of the French government between 1816 and c. 1864 and was additionally a teacher of French and the author of a two-volume study of language education published in London in 1853 under the title ''Language as a Means of Mental Culture and International Communication; or, Manual of the Teacher and the Learner of Languages''. Most of the dissertation's biographical information on Marcel comes from an enquiry which A.P.R. Howatt made to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (archives and documentation section) He has been seen as pioneer of applied linguistics. Marcel Wave
Marcelling is a hair styling technique in which hot curling tongs are used to induce a curl into the hair. Its appearance was similar to that of a finger wave but it is created using a different method. Marcelled hair was a popular style for women's hair in the 1920s, often in conjunction with a bob cut. For those women who had longer hair, it was common to tie the hair at the nape of the neck and pin it above the ear with a stylish hair pin or flower. One famous wearer was Josephine Baker. History Accounts vary about the invention of the style, but Marcel Grateau (October 18, 1852–May 31, 1936) is widely credited with inventing the hair styling technique in the 1870s (differing accounts report 1872 or 1875). The inventor and stylist emigrated to the United States and changed his name to François Marcel Woelfflé, sometimes reported as François Marcel. Her's
Her's were an indie rock band from Liverpool, England, composed of Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading. The band's debut full-length LP ''Invitation to Her's'' was released in August 2018, following the compilation LP ''Songs of Her's'' which had been released in May 2017. The duo were killed in the early hours of 27 March 2019 in a road traffic collision in Arizona, while on tour in the United States. Members The band's line-up consisted of Stephen Fitzpatrick, from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England, who sang lead vocals and played guitar, and Audun Laading, from Flekkerøy, Kristiansand, Norway, who played bass guitar and sang backing vocals.
