Marcel Duchamp Prize
The Marcel Duchamp Prize (in French : ''Prix Marcel Duchamp'') is an annual award given to a young artist by the Association pour la Diffusion Internationale de l'Art Français (ADIAF). The winner receives €35,000 personally and up to €30,000 in order to produce an exhibition of their work in the Modern Art museum ( Centre Georges Pompidou). The prize is named after the artist Marcel Duchamp. History of the Marcel-Duchamp Prize In the early 1990s, an association was created, the ADIAF (Association for the international dissemination of French art), notably by Gilles Fuchs, international lawyer but also art collector, and by the gallery owner Daniel Templon, to participate in better promotion and distribution of the works of French visual artists. Launched by a group of five people, the ADIAF has nearly 400 members in 2020. Prix Marcel Duchamp 2009
Prix was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975 by Tommy Hoehn and Jon Tiven. The group ended up primarily as a studio project. Its recordings were produced by Tiven along with former Big Star member Chris Bell, who also played guitar and sang backup vocals. Prix is also famous of Banjo playing. Alex Chilton also participated in the recordings, along with session drummer Hilly Michaels. Although the group generated some major record label interest—notably from Mercury Records and Columbia/CBS Records—it ultimately only released a double A-side single on Ork Records in 1977 and a single on Miracle Records in 1978. Its only live performance came at a CBS Records showcase in 1976. In 1977, just as Ork Records released the first single and booked the group at CBGB, Prix broke up due both to Hoehn's unwillingness to remain in New York and to creative differences. Claude Lévêque
Claude Lévêque (born 27 February 1953) is a French contemporary installation, sculpture, and new media, artist, best known for his work in neon. Lévêque, a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Bourges, received considerable attention for his April 2014 neon installation in I.M. Saâdane Afif (born 1970 in Vendôme, Loir-et-Cher Département, France) is a French conceptual artist. Life and career Saâdane Afif graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Bourges and later received his 1998 postgraduate degree from the School of Fine Arts in Nantesat (École des Beaux Arts). In 2001, he was in residence at the "Villa Arson" International Art School of Nice (France); in 2002, he was in residence at the Villa Médicis in Glasgow (Scotland). Biography Laurent Grasso is the recipient of the esteemed Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture and the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2015, and 2008 respectively.
