Marc Perrone
Anthony "Marc" Perrone (born November 14, 1955) is an American labor union leader. Born in Hearne, Texas, Perrone grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He began working at a local Weingarten's grocery store in 1971 when he was 16, and joined the Retail Clerks International Union. He studied at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, in an attempt to enter medical school, but ended up with a degree in labor studies from Antioch University. After college, Perrone began working as a union organizer for the Retail Clerks and what would soon become the United Food and Commercial Workers. In the field, he participated in and led a number of campaigns and projects for the union before going to Washington DC to be the international's assistant organizing director when he was 28 years old. Antioch University
Antioch University is a private university with multiple campuses in the United States and online programs. Founded in 1852 as Antioch College, its first president was politician, abolitionist, and education reformer Horace Mann. It changed its name to Antioch University in 1977 to reflect its growth across the country into numerous graduate education programs. The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) is a public historically black university in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Founded in 1873, it is the second oldest public college or university in the state of Arkansas. UAPB is part of the University of Arkansas System and Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
