Marc Ostendarp
Mark Ostendarp (born 24 January 1973 in Coesfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a retired German runner, who specialized in the 3000 metres steeplechase. Ostendarp won the 1997 Summer Universiade, finished ninth at the 1997 World Championships and at the 1998 European Championships. At the 1998 IAAF World Cup he ran the 1500 metres and finished sixth. He became German steeplechase champion in 1997, representing the team TV Wattenscheid. His time of 8:18.49 minutes from the 1997 World Championships in Athens remained his career best time. Coesfeld
Coesfeld (; Westphalian: ''Koosfeld'') is the capital of the district of Coesfeld in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. History Coesfeld received its city rights in 1197, but was first recorded earlier than that in the biography of St. Ludger, patron and first bishop of the diocese of Munster who was born north of Coesfeld in Billerbeck. The day before he died, Ludger spent the night in Coesfeld and heard mass in the morning in the church he founded. He was on his way from his abbey in Essen to Münster. The road he followed passed Coesfeld and Billerbeck, and after preaching in the St. Lambert's church, 26 March 809, he travelled on to Billerbeck, where he died in the evening. The Coesfeld St. Jacobikirche dates from the same period as the city charter. The Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU, en, International University Sports Federation) is responsible for the organization and governance of worldwide sports competitions for student-athletes between the ages of 17 and 25. The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". Patriz Ilg (born 5 December 1957 in Aalen-Oberalfingen) is a retired 3000 m steeplechaser from West Germany. Biography He won a silver medal at the 1978 European Championships and gold medals at the 1982 European Championships in Athens and the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki. At the European Indoor Championships he competed in the 3000 metres and won the gold medal in 1982 and finished sixth in 1984. At the 1986 European Championships Ilg came close to defending his title. However, he was overtaken on the final straight by Francesco Panetta (silver) and Hagen Melzer of the GDR (gold). In 1987 Ilg participated in the World Championships final in Rome but missed out on a medal. His time of 8:15.06 minutes from the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki remained his career best time.
