Marc Burrows
Marc Burrows (15 October 1978 – 9 February 2009) was an English footballer, who played as a forward. He grew up in Sandown on the Isle of Wight and attended Sandham Middle School before heading to Sandown High School. Playing career After beginning his career on a two-year apprenticeship at Portsmouth, Burrows played for non-league clubs Cowes Sports, Christchurch, Brading Town, Eastleigh and West Moors. His playing career included appearances in the FA Cup, FA Vase and was part of the Eastleigh Social Club squad that played in the Carlsberg Pub Cup Final, held on 6 May 2000 at the old Wembley Stadium. Burrows is recognised as scoring the sport's fastest ever goal, beating both the former English record of Colin Cowperthwaite (3.5 seconds) and the world record held by Ricardo Oliveira (2.8 seconds). Sandown
Sandown is a seaside resort and civil parishes in England, civil parish on the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight, United Kingdom with the resort of Shanklin to the south and the settlement of Lake, Isle of Wight, Lake in between. Fastest Goals In Association Football
This article lists goals which have been considered among the fastest ever scored in association football matches. The records concerning the fastest goals are disputed for a number of reasons. Ray Spiller of the Association of Football Statisticians has argued that as there is no official system for recognizing the timing of goals there are always going to be disputes concerning these records. In addition, many of the goals listed in the Guinness World Records as being among the fastest were not filmed, preventing the precise timing of goals from being assessed. The status of Nawaf Al-Abed's goal which is credited as being scored after two seconds is also disputed given that the match was later declared void due to ineligible players, when several players over the age of 23 were found to have played in the age restricted game. Ricardo José Dognella Lima de Oliveira (; born 6 May 1980) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Athletic.
