Marash (Armenian: Մարաշ), officially Kahramanmaraş () and historically Germanicea (Greek: Γερμανίκεια), is a city in the Mediterranean Region, Turkey, Mediterranean Region of Turkey and the administrative center of Kahramanmaraş Province. Before 1973, Kahramanmaraş was officially named Maraş, and later, it attained the prefix "kahraman" (meaning "hero" in Turkish) to commemorate Battle of Marash. Dulkadir Eyalet ( ota, ایالت ذو القادریه / دولقادر, Eyālet-i Ẕū l-Ḳādirīye / Ḍūlḳādir) or Marash Eyalet ( tr, Maraş Eyaleti ) was an eyalet of the Ottoman Empire. Its reported area in the 19th century was . Odrin Bay () is a wide bay indenting for the Nordenskjöld Coast in Graham Land, Antarctica. It is entered southwest of Fothergill Point and northeast of Spoluka Point. Baldwin Of Marash
Baldwin of Marash (died 1146) was a Crusader baron in Northern Syria. The chronicler Gregory the Priest says that Baldwin was the brother of Prince Raymond of Antioch and therefore the son of Duke William IX of Aquitaine. Baldwin was the chief vassal of Joscelin II, Count of Edessa. He controlled the city of Marash (modern Kahramanmaraş) and the strategic fortress of Kaysun. Baldwin’s fiefdom was in the northern border region of the Crusader states where the population was largely Armenian Christians. In 1135, Leo I, Prince of Armenia seized Sarventikar from Baldwin of Marash. Sarventikar was a fortress on the slopes of the Amanus Mountains. In 1136 Raymond of Antioch attacked Leo I’s Armenian Kingdom in Cilicia. Baldwin of Marash marched with the Antiochenes. Thoros Of Marash
Thoros of Marash, also known as Thatoul (late 11th – early 12th century) was the father of Arda of Armenia (died after 1116), the first queen consort of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Thoros' allowing Baldwin I of Jerusalem, who was then Count of Edessa (1098–1100), to marry his daughter gave Baldwin a legitimate claim to Edessa since it was within the traditional area of Armenia. Thoros failed to pay the full dowry he had pledged. Also with Baldwin becoming King of Jerusalem, he no longer felt a need to have alliances with the Armenians. David Marash, known as Dave Marash (born May 3, 1942), is an American television journalist known for his work at ABC News and Al Jazeera English.
