Mirrabooka is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. Geography The district is based in the northern suburbs of Perth. It includes Alexander Heights, Balga, Koondoola, Mirrabooka, Westminster and parts of Ballajura and Dianella. History The district was created for the 2013 state election, essentially as a new name for the district of Nollamara. It was won by sitting Nollamara MP Janine Freeman. Sarah Edmiston
Sarah Edmiston (born 8 September 1975) is an Australian Paralympic athlete who specialises in the discus and shot put. At her first major international competition, she won the bronze medal in the Women's Discus F44 at the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships and followed this up with a silver medal in the same event at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships. She also won the bronze medal in the Women's Discus F64 at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and has been selected for the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Personal Edmiston was born on 8 September 1975 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. In 2017, she moved to Perth, Western Australia. Marangaroo Drive
Marangaroo Drive is an arterial east-west road located in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. This road was originally part of Warwick Road, but in the late 1970s, Warwick Road was realigned, so the section of Warwick Road that was east of Wanneroo Road was discontinuous with the part that was west. The part that was east was renamed Marangaroo Drive, after the suburb Marangaroo. Marangaroo Drive is now extended through the suburb of Ballajura so it connects with Hepburn Avenue. Marangaroo Drive is now part of State Route 81, which Warwick Road is also a part of, connected by a small part of Wanneroo road. This route connects the coastal suburbs of Sorrento and Marmion with Ballajura. Mirrabooka Avenue
Mirrabooka Avenue is a major north-south road located in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. It is a four-lane dual carriageway for its entire length. It mainly passes through residential areas, as well as industrial areas on the northern end of the road in Landsdale. On the southern end, it is continuous with Nollamara Avenue. On the northern end, it is continuous with Gnangara Road, which meets up with Ocean Reef Road and state route 84. History In 2010, construction started on a diamond interchange for the junction of Reid Highway and Mirrabooka Avenue to improve safety and efficiency. Hepburn Avenue is an arterial east-west road in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The road links Sorrento in the west with Malaga and Whiteman in the east. It also connects the residential developments that span its length with several local facilities, as well as major road routes into central Perth. History The road was built in the 1980s to meet suburban demand and was originally proposed on the Metropolitan Region Scheme as a freeway. It was named after Alistair Hepburn (1915-2004), one of the drafters of the Scheme together with Professor Gordon Stephenson (1908–1997). Wanneroo Road
Wanneroo Road is a arterial highway in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia linking Joondanna and Yokine in the south with Wanneroo and Yanchep in the north. As part of State Route 60, it begins from Charles Street in the inner city and becomes Indian Ocean Drive up to Dongara. Originally a narrow and often country road with a single lane in each direction it has been periodically widened and (particularly north of Wanneroo) straightened. The City of Wanneroo is a local government area with city status in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. It is centred approximately north of Perth's central business district and forms part of the northern boundary of the Perth metropolitan area. Koondoola is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. Its postcode is 6064. Most of Koondoola's infrastructure was built in the 1970s. For example, two of the area's focal points, Koondoola Primary School and Koondoola Plaza, were built in 1975 and 1978 respectively.
