Maplewood High School (locally known as Maplewood HS, MHS, or Maplewood), formerly Maplewood Vocational School is a specialized public vocational high school managed by the Scarborough Board of Education when it was passed on to the Toronto District School Board upon amalgamation in 1998. The school was founded in 1967 as the second junior vocational school in the former City of Scarborough. The school offers basic academic and vocational courses with graduates entering post-secondary programs such as college or employment. Maplewood's school motto is ''Building Futures''. West Hill is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the eastern end of the city, in the suburb of Scarborough, Toronto, Scarborough. It is roughly bounded by Scarborough Golf Club Road and a branch of Highland Creek on the west, the Canadian National Railway, CNR railway tracks and Lake Ontario on the south, and Highland Creek (Lake Ontario), Highland Creek on the north-east. Terry Fox Run
The Terry Fox Run is an annual non-competitive charity event held around the world to raise money for cancer research in commemoration of Canadian cancer activist Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope. The event was founded in 1981 by Isadore Sharp, who had contacted Terry in hospital by telegram and expressed his wishes to hold an annual run in Terry's name to raise funds for cancer research. Sharp had lost his son to cancer in 1979. The event is held every year on the second Sunday following Labour Day.
