Maple Leaf Cricket Club
The Maple Leaf Cricket Club is a cricket club in King City, Ontario, Canada, about 30 kilometres north of Toronto, Ontario. It was established in 1954 and operates a turf wicket facility. In 2006, it became the second ground in Canada to be approved to host One Day Internationals (ODI) by the International Cricket Council. The facility has 5 cricket grounds. The North-West ground is the most important, and ODIs and Twenty20 Internationals have been played at this ground since the 2008 season. The Maple Leaf Cricket Club has become the primary cricket venue in Canada, assuming the role from the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club. The facility has hosted major events including games in the 2001 ICC Trophy, two first-class matches in the 2006 ICC Intercontinental Cup, several games in the ICC Americas Championship tournaments of 2000 and 2006, and the 2008 Quadrangular Twenty20 Series. King City is an unincorporated Canadian community in the township of King, Ontario, located north of Toronto. Global T20 Canada
The Global T20 Canada is a 20-over cricket tournament played in Canada. The first edition of the tournament took place during June and July 2018 with six teams competing. Each team featured four local Canadian cricketers in each squad, along with international players. The inaugural tournament in 2018 took place at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City, Ontario, while the 2019 tournament took place at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario. Bombay Sports Limited are the owners of the league, and also the organizers of the Euro T20 Slam that was set to begin on August 30, 2019. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Toronto Cricket, Skating And Curling Club Ground
Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club Ground is a cricket ground in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In 1827 the Toronto Cricket Club was established in part by the efforts of George Anthony Barber. Cricket was joined by the Curling Club in 1836, and the Skating club sometime in the mid-1800s. The three clubs were amalgamated in 1957. The club also provides facilities for tennis and squash, amongst other sports. The TCSCC is clearly the major ground, having hosted the Sahara Cups in the 1990s. Until September 2006, the cricket ground was the only ground in Canada approved to host official One Day Internationals. It was joined at this date by the Maple Leaf Cricket Club. Timm van der Gugten (born 25 February 1991) is an Australian–Dutch international cricketer who made his debut for the Dutch national team in January 2012. Sunil Dhaniram (born 17 October 1968) is a former Canadian cricketer and a former captain, who played ODIs and T20Is. He formerly played for Guyana from 1993 to 1995. He made his Canadian debut on 2 October 2003 playing against the Windward Islands. He made his ODI debut for Canada on 16 May 2006 against Zimbabwe, and has played 44 ODIs in his long career. 2018 Global T20 Canada
The 2018 Global T20 Canada (also known as Canada Dry Global T20 Canada for sponsorship reasons) of the Global T20 Canada, was a 20-over cricket cricket tournament played in Canada. It was the first edition of the tournament and ran from 28 June to 15 July 2018. Six teams took part, with all the matches played at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King City, Ontario. A player draft took place on 3 June 2018. Approximately 1,600 players registered for the draft, with 600 of those from Canada.
