Volvo Ocean 65
The Volvo Ocean 65 is a class of monohull racing yachts. It is the successor to the Volvo Open 70 yacht used in past editions of the Volvo Ocean Race. It was announced at a conference in Lorient, France, during a stopover in the 2011–12 Volvo Ocean Race. The yacht was used for the 2014–2015 and the 2017–2018 editions and is planned to be used for the 2023 edition. The 2014–2015 Volvo Ocean Race was the first one-design event. Design The yacht was designed, by Farr Yacht Design, to be a cheaper and safer alternative to the expensive and fragile Volvo Open 70. Blair Tuke
Andrew Blair Tuke (born 25 July 1989) is a New Zealand sailor who won the 2021 Americas Cup Held in Auckland and also won the 2017 Version held in Bermuda. He also won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 49er class alongside Peter Burling. Juan Vila (12 November 1961) is a Spanish sailor who has competed in multiple America's Cups and Whitbread Round the World Races. Born in Barcelona, Vila sailed in the 1989–90 Whitbread Round the World Race on the Spanish entry, '' Fortuna Extra Lights''. He then competed in the 1993–94 event on '' Galicia '93 Pescanova'', the 1997–98 event with '' Chessie Racing'', and the 2001–02 event on ''Illbruck Challenge''. Neal McDonald (born 22 July 1963) is a British sailor who has competed in seven Volvo Ocean Races. Sailing career Born in Brighton, McDonald is a qualified naval architect and a member of the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors. He represented Great Britain at the 1988 Summer Olympics, sailing a Flying Dutchman with Roger Yeoman. They placed sixth in the event. He then won the 1989 International 14 World Championship with his brother, Duncan McDonald before campaigning in the 49er class, becoming European Champion. McDonald first sailed in the Whitbread Round the World Race during the 1993-94 event on ''Fortuna''. The boat broke its mast twice in the first 24 hours of the race, and ended up retiring.
