Manzoor Hussain Atif
Brigadier (R) Manzoor Hussain Atif (4 September 1928 – 8 December 2008) was a former secretary of Pakistan Hockey Federation and an Olympian in the game of field hockey. In 1994, he was a recipient of the Silver Olympic Order. Early life and career Atif started as a soldier in the Pakistan Armed Forces and eventually reached the rank of a Brigadier before he retired from the army. Later while Atif was involved with the Pakistan Hockey Team, the team won one Olympic gold medal in 1960 and two Olympic silver medals in 1956 and again in 1964. Gujrat City
Gujrat ( Punjabi and ur, ) is a city in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. It is the capital of Gujrat District and it is the 21st largest city of Pakistan by population. Along with the nearby cities of Sialkot and Gujranwala, Gujrat forms part of the ''Golden Triangle'' of industrial cities with export-oriented economies. History The area around Gujrat was settled during the reign of the Suri ruler Sher Shah prior to the Mughals. The area was named ''Khwaspur,'' in honour of Suri's Governor of Rohtas, Khwas Khan. Local traditions state that Gujrat is the second town to be built in the area, with the first having been destroyed by Mongol invasions in 1303. Olympic Order
The Olympic Order, established in 1975, is the highest award of the Olympic Movement. It is awarded for particularly distinguished contributions to the Olympic Movement, i.e. recognition of efforts worthy of merit in the cause of sport. Traditionally, the IOC bestows the Olympic Order upon the chief national organiser(s) at the closing ceremony of each respective Olympic Games. Asif Bajwa
Asif Muhammad Bajwa OLY ( ur, ) (born 8 March 1969) is a former field hockey player who played for Pakistan from 1992 to 1996. He later became the team's manager and chief coach. As of 2022, he is the secretary general of Pakistan Hockey Federation. Career Asif started his career against Spain in 1991. Bajwa was a member of Pakistan's World Cup-winning hockey team in 1994, and played 74 international matches and scored 25 goals in his career. Bajwa assisted Kamran Ashraf in scoring the only goal of 1994 Hockey World Cup Final with an accurate cross from the right. He was a part of the bronze-winning Pakistan team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. In 1995, Asif Bajwa received a Pride of Performance Award from the Government of Pakistan. Qasim Zia
Qasim Zia (born 7 August 1961 in Lahore, Punjab) Pakistani politician and former field hockey player. He was appointed as President, Pakistan Hockey Federation in October 2008. He was a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, Pakistan during 2002–07 and functioned as the Leader of Opposition. The Pride of Performance ( ur, ), officially known as Presidential Pride of Performance, is an award bestowed by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to recognize people with "notable achievements in the field of art, science, literature, sports, and nursing". The Pride of Performance is the highest national literary award of Pakistan conferred upon its citizens and, while it recognizes literary contribution, it can also be conferred upon foreign nationals.
