Manuel Velasco Coello
Manuel Velasco Coello (born 7 April 1980) is a Mexican lawyer and politician and a member of PVEM. He served as the Governor of Chiapas from 2012 to 2018. He was the first PVEM politician to become a governor. Prior to his governorship, he served as a state deputy, Federal deputy and Senator, each time becoming the youngest person to ever hold such office. Life and career Velasco was born on 7 April 1980 in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas' capital. He was elected to Congress of Chiapas in 2001, becoming the youngest person to be ever elected to Chiapas' state legislature. In 2003, he was elected Deputy of the LIX Legislature of the Mexican Congress representing Chiapas. At the age of 23, he became the youngest person to serve as a federal deputy. He left his Chamber seat to run for Senate, winning Chiapas' seat in the July elections. At the age of 26, Velasco set another history by becoming the youngest Senator in Mexican history. Governor Of Chiapas
The governor of Chiapas is the chief executive of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The state constitution stipulates a term of 6 years, to which governors can only be elected once. It also specifies the qualifications for becoming governor: a Mexican citizen by birth, aged at least 30 years old, and having not less than 5 years residency in Chiapas. Tuxtla Gutiérrez
Tuxtla Gutiérrez (, ) is the capital and the largest city of the Mexican southeastern state of Chiapas. It is the seat of the municipality of the same name, the most developed and populated in the state. A busy government, commercial and services-oriented city, Tuxtla (as it is commonly known) had one of the fastest-growing rates in Mexico in the last 40 years. Unlike many other areas in Chiapas, it is not a major tourist attraction, but a transportation hub for tourists coming into the state, with a large airport and a bus terminal. Manuel Velasco Suárez
Manuel Velasco Suárez (San Cristóbal de las Casas 28 December 1914 – Ciudad de México 2 December 2001) was a Mexican neurologist, neurosurgeon, scientist and humanist. He became governor of the state of Chiapas. Career Velasco founded and was the first director of National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery (INNN) that today bears his name and of which he was its first director. In 1977, he was appointed director emeritus and honorary member of the Governing Board of the Institute until his death in December 2001. He created the chair of neurology and neurosurgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and in 1989 that university named him Emeritus Professor and distinguished him with the Academic Merit Medal for having taught classes for more than 60 years.
