Mansfield Mounties
The Mansfield Mountaineers or Mounties represent the Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, located in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Mountaineers are members of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) for eleven varsity sports. Mansfield University Sprint Football team participates in the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL). Mansfield have been members of the PSAC since its foundation in 1951 and a non-football member since 2007. Mansfield University of Pennsylvania is a campus of Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania and it is located it in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. Part of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the campus' total enrollment is 1,637 students. History Mansfield University traces its heritage back to 1857, when Mansfield Classical Seminary opened on January 7. At 10 a.m. on April 22, with a foot of snow on the ground, the Mansfield Classical Seminary burned to the ground. Immediately after the fire, the founders vowed to persevere and reconstruct an even bigger and better building. Mansfield Classical Seminary was rebuilt and reopened on November 23, 1859, to some 30 students. Rev. James Landreth was elected Principal and Miss Julia A. Hosmer was named preceptress. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. The conference was originally formed in 1951 as the State Teachers Conference, and was temporarily named the Pennsylvania State Teachers College Conference in 1956 before being named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in 1964. The conference is currently composed of 17 full-time members within Pennsylvania and 1 in West Virginia. The conference headquarters are located in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and staffed by a commissioner, two assistant commissioners, and a director of media relations. NCAA Division II
NCAA Division II (D-II) is an intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It offers an alternative to both the larger and better-funded Division I and to the scholarship-free environment offered in Division III. Before 1973, the NCAA's smaller schools were grouped together in the College Division. In 1973, the College Division split in two when the NCAA began using numeric designations for its competitions. As of the 2022 season, the sport is governed by the Collegiate Sprint Football League and the Midwest Sprint Football League. Assaf Lowengart ( he, אסף לוונגרט; born March 1, 1998) is an Israeli baseball player. He is a shortstop for the Mansfield Mountaineers in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. He also plays for Team Israel, and most notably during the 2020 Summer Olympics. Early life He is the son of Oded Lowengart and Ayelet Lowengart. His hometown is Timorim, Israel.
