Manoj Malaviya
Manoj Malaviya is a 1986 batch Indian Police Service officer who served as the Director General of West Bengal Police from August 2021 to December 2023. He is now the State Police Advisor (SPA), West Bengal, an ex-cadre post equivalent to DGP rank. He has held several important positions in his career, including Additional Commissioner of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security in Delhi, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in Kolkata Police. He was promoted to the rank of Director General in 2017 and held the post till 2023. Early life and education Manoj was born in Allahabad. His father is Giridhar Malaviya who is the Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University. Manoj is a graduate in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Allahabad. Director general of police (DGP) is a rank in the Indian Police Service, held by the highest ranking police officer in a State or a Union Territory of India, typically heading the state or the UT police force. Bardhaman District
Bardhaman district (, ; also spelled Burdwan or Barddhaman or Vardhaman) was a district in West Bengal. On 7 April 2017, the district was bifurcated into two districts: Purba Bardhaman and Paschim Bardhaman district. The headquarters of the district was Bardhaman, and it housed the cities of Asansol and Durgapur. Indian revolutionary Rashbehari Bose was born in village Subaldaha, Bardhaman district. Bengali poet Kumud Ranjan Mullick was born at Kogram and poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was born at Churulia in the same district. Nadia () is a district in the state of West Bengal, India. Giridhar Malaviya (born 1936) is the chancellor of Banaras Hindu University and a retired judge of Allahabad High Court. Personal life and education Malaviya is the grandson of Madan Mohan Malaviya (founder of Banaras Hindu University) and only son of Govind Malaviya (6th vice-chancellor of Banaras Hindu University).
