Manish Tewari
Manish Tewari (born 8 December 1965) is a Prominent Indian lawyer and politician. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and represents Anandpur Sahib in the 17th Lok Sabha. He was the Minister of Information and Broadcasting from 2012 to 2014 and a Member of Parliament from Ludhiana from 2009 to 2014. Personal life Manish Tewari was born on 8 December 1965 Ludhiana, Punjab to V.N. Tiwari, an author of Punjabi language and professor at the Panjab University; and Amrit Tewari was a dentist who worked as Professor and Head, Oral Health Sciences Center, and Dean at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. His father was killed by militants in 1984 at Sector 24, Chandigarh during a morning walk, a few months before Operation Blue Star. His mother died in 2018 following a cardiac arrest. Amrit Kaur Tewari (September 5, 1938 – January 13, 2018) was an Indian dental physician and a former Dean of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. She also served as Head, Oral Health Sciences Centre, PGI. She was the daughter of Sardar Tirath Singh Gurum who was the minister in the Erstwhile PEPSU . She was the first person to be selected as the Life member of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) and is a Fellow of the Indian Dental Association and the National Academy of Medical Sciences. She was also former member of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. After her superannuation from PGIMER, she was made the Professor Emeritus of the Institute. Randeep Singh Surjewala (born 3 June 1967) is an Indian politician from Haryana and a member of Indian National Congress party. He was an MLA in the Haryana state legislature until 2019 and a former minister. He held water supply and sanitation, parliamentary affairs, electronics and information technology, science and technology and public works as a minister in Haryana cabinet. Operation Blue Star was the codename of a military operation which was carried out by Indian security forces between 1 and 10 June 1984 in order to remove Damdami Taksal leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his followers from the buildings of the Golden Temple, the holiest site for Sikhs which is located in Amritsar, Punjab, India.
