Manipur State Congress Party
Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) is a former political party in the Indian state of Manipur. The party was founded in 1997 by Wahengbam Nipamacha as a split from the Indian National Congress (INC). In 2014 the MCSP remerged with the INC. History The party was formed after a group of ministers and legislators, led by former Speaker Nipamacha, broke away from the ruling Indian National Congress and floated the Party which subsequently formed the next government. "Cultivator Cutting Crop" is the election symbol of the party. Nipamacha then became the chief minister of a coalition government led by the party. In the 1999 Lok Sabha elections, then-MSCP candidate Th. Chaoba Singh got elected and became Union Minister of State for Food Processing during Atal Behari Vajpayee's tenure. Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh
Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh (17 December 1930 – 17 July 2012) was chief Minister of the northeastern India state of Manipur. Nipamacha Singh became chief minister replacing Rishang Keishing from the Congress in 1997. In 1997, he started the Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) while he was the Speaker in the same year. Though he won the 2000 election for the second time, he was removed the very next year when President's rule was declared in the state. Saying, "It is a sin to be with a party that does not have any representation in Parliament. However powerful the party might be on home turf, it cannot raise Manipur’s problems in Parliament if it does not have any MP", he left the party. He formed the Manipur National Conference (MNC) in 2002. He lost his seat in the 2002 Assembly election. The Indian National Congress (INC), colloquially the Congress Party but often simply the Congress, is a political party in India with widespread roots. Radhabinod Koijam
Radhabinod Koijam (born 19 July 1948) is a politician from Manipur. He briefly served as the 10th Chief Minister of Manipur in 2001. Political career In 1995, Koijam was elected to Manipur Legislative Assembly as Indian National Congress candidate. Later, he joined the Samata Party (now led by Uday Mandal). Koijam was sworn in as Chief Minister of Manipur on 15 February 2001. The government was however, short-lived. The coalition he was leading fell in May the same year. He was the president of the Nationalist Congress Party in Manipur. The Manipur National Conference was a political party in the Indian state of Manipur. MNC was formed in 2002, when a split occurred in the Manipur State Congress Party. Two competing factions struggled to be recognized as the authentic MSCP. In the end the Election Commission recognized the Th. Chaoba-led group as the real MSCP. W Nipamacha Singh (former Chief Minister of Manipur) then re-christened his group as 'Manipur National Conference'.
