Oinam Bembem Devi
Oinam Bembem Devi (born 4 April 1980) is a retired Indian footballer from Imphal, Manipur. In 2017, she was honoured with the Arjuna Award by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. She was nicknamed the ''Durga of Indian Football'' and is currently involved in spreading awareness about Women's football in India. Oinam Bembem Devi is the recipient of India's highly prestigious award Padma Shri 2020. Early life and club career Devi began her career as a footballer in 1988 when she began training at the United Pioneers Club in Imphal. In 1991, she was selected to represent the Manipur U-13 team in the sub-junior football tournament. Her performances in the tournament got noticed, and was signed up by Yawa Singjamei Leishangthem Lekai club, and two years later, by the Social Union Nascent (SUN) Club. The Manipur State League, also known as Manipur Premier League, has been organised since 2006 by the All Manipur Football Association under the Vision India program with guidance from the AFC and the AIFF. The Indian Women's League, known as ''Hero Indian Women's League'' for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp is the women's top tier professional football league in Indian football. Churachand Singh Trophy, also known as the Churachand Singh Invitation Trophy (Sir Churachand Singh Memorial Football Tournament), is an annual Indian football tournament held in Manipur and organized by All Manipur Football Association (A.M.F.A). History The tournament was first started in 1950 and is named after Manipur's Maharaja Churachand Singh. At its every inception, the Tournament had been organised by the Manipur Sports Association (MSA). With the amalgamation of Manipur Sports Association and Manipur Olympic Association in 1954, the Tournament came under the management of All Manipur Football Association.
