The Manicaland cricket team was a first-class cricket team representing the Manicaland province in Zimbabwe. They competed in the Logan Cup from 1999 until the format was revamped after the 2004–05 season. The club played their home matches at the Mutare Sports Club. Mutare Sports Club
Mutare Sports Club is a cricket ground in Mutare, Manicaland Province, Zimbabwe. It is located just to the south-east of the city centre, next to Main Park. It has been the home ground of the Mountaineers, one of Zimbabwe's first-class cricket franchises, since they were formed in 2009. Prior to the reorganisation of Zimbabwean cricket, it was the home ground of the Manicaland team. The ground was originally called the Umtali Sports Club, before Umtali was renamed as Mutare in 1982. The first List A cricket match at the ground took place in March 1984, when Zimbabwe played the touring Young India team. The first first-class match took place in March 2000 when Manicaland played Mashonaland in the Logan Cup. The ground and its facilities for players and spectators were upgraded in 2010. Dion Ebrahim
Dion Digby Ebrahim (born 7 August 1980) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer, who played Tests and ODIs. He now lives in New Zealand where he works as a cricket coach. International career A graduate of the CFX Academy in Harare, Ebrahim was considered an integral part of Zimbabwean cricket until falling out of favour with authorities. Ebrahim has a highest One Day International score of 121 and highest Test score of 94. Domestic career Since leaving Zimbabwe in 2005, he has played in England as the captain of Stony Stratford CC who play in the Northants Premier Division. Ngonidzashe Blessing Mahwire (born 31 July 1982) is a Zimbabwean cricketer who plays first-class cricket for Mashonaland and has also made appearances for the Zimbabwean cricket team in both the Test match and One Day International forms of the game. Trevor Gripper
Trevor Raymond Gripper (born 28 December 1975) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer. He was born in 1975 in Salisbury - now Harare. Gripper was a somewhat solid opening batsman, who once spent four hours 23 minutes inching his way to 28 in a match against England A. However, his off-spin bowling has also proved useful, and in first-class cricket he may fairly be considered an all-rounder, with his batting average above 33 and his bowling average below 32. Gripper made his first-class debut for a Matabeleland Invitation XI during Worcestershire's 1996/97 tour of Zimbabwe, by scoring 45. However, he did not play another match at that level until the aforementioned game against England A in February 1999. Richard William Sims (born 23 July 1979) is a Zimbabwean cricketer. An allrounder, he bats in the middle order and bowls right-arm offbreak. He is a good driver of the ball and is a straight hitter. International career Sims made his international debut in 2002 in an ODI against Pakistan. Having gone into bat first, Pakistan reached 305–2 in 50 overs with Sims bowling 9 wicketless overs for 49.
