Manic Frustration
''Manic Frustration'' is the fifth studio album by American doom metal band Trouble, released on June 16, 1992. The album marked a change in style toward a faster-paced, psychedelic sound, as opposed to the slower, doom metal style on their previous albums. It was the band's last release via the label Def American. A promotional disc was released with the songs "'Scuse Me," "The Sleeper," and "Memory's Garden" in 1992, the last song of which also had a music video. The album was reissued and remastered by Hammerheart Records in 2020. Trouble (band)
Trouble is an American doom metal band from Aurora, Illinois, formed in 1979. They are often considered one of the pioneers of doom metal, and have been referred to as one of the genre's "big four" alongside Candlemass, Pentagram and Saint Vitus. The band created a distinct style, taking influences of the British heavy metal bands Black Sabbath and Judas Priest,Leif Edling, Trouble interview, ''Trouble Live In Stockholm'' DVD. and psychedelic rock of the 1970s. Trouble's first two albums, ''Psalm 9'' and ''The Skull'', are cited as landmarks of doom metal. To date, they have released eight studio albums. Although never officially disbanded, they went inactive after original singer Eric Wagner left in 1997. ''Kerrang!'' is a British weekly magazine devoted to rock, punk and heavy metal music, currently published by Wasted Talent (the same company that owns electronic music publication ''Mixmag''). It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off supplement in the ''Sounds'' newspaper. Named after the onomatopoeic word that derives from the sound made when playing a power chord on a distorted electric guitar, ''Kerrang!'' was initially devoted to the new wave of British heavy metal and the rise of hard rock acts. Gary Hoey
Gary Hoey (born August 23, 1960) is an American hard rock and latterly blues rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. He has recorded over 20 albums and had five Top 20 ''Billboard'' hits. Early life and early career Hoey was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. At fourteen, Hoey often lingered outside Boston's renowned Berklee College of Music, making friends and offering to pay for lessons. To devote his time to music, he dropped out of high school and began playing Boston's local clubs and teaching guitar to other young players. He auditioned for Ozzy Osbourne in 1987, when Osbourne was searching for a replacement for Jake E. Lee, but the job went to Zakk Wylde. Ronald David Anderson (born October 18, 1945) is an American singer who appeared on ''The Lawrence Welk Show'' for the last two years of its run as a member of the singing trio of Gail, Ron and Michael. Born in San Francisco, California, after college Anderson served as a choir director before moving to Hollywood to work as a musician. He started out in a gospel brass quartet and later as a stand-in actor for game show hosts during rehearsal. Later, he secured bit acting parts that led to other acting jobs and appearances on ''The Mary Tyler Moore Show'', ''The Young and the Restless'', and ''The Tonight Show''. Barry Stern
Barry Stern (January 24, 1960April 1, 2005) was a heavy metal drummer from Chicago, Illinois. History Zoetrope and Trouble (1976-1995) From 1976 until 1988, he drummed for Zoetrope, for whom he also served as vocalist and songwriter. After recording two albums with that band, Stern joined Trouble in 1989. He appeared on two of their albums, 1990's ''Trouble'' and 1992's '' Manic Frustration'', before leaving in 1993. In 1994, Barry replaced Joe Hasselvander in Cathedral for touring purposes. Donovan Phillips Leitch (born 10 May 1946), known mononymously as Donovan, is a Scottish musician, songwriter, and record producer. He developed an eclectic and distinctive style that blended folk, jazz, pop, psychedelic rock and world music (notably calypso). Bruce Franklin (guitarist)
Bruce Franklin is an American musician. He is a founding member and guitarist for doom metal band Trouble. In 1979, he formed the band with his hometown friends Eric Wagner, Rick Wartell, Jeff Olson, and Ian Brown. After touring the Midwest and gaining popularity, Trouble was signed to Metal Blade Records in 1983. Franklin is also a member of the band Supershine featuring King's X frontman Doug Pinnick and longtime Trouble drummer Jeff Olson. Franklin appeared as a guest lead guitarist on Tourniquet's 2003 album ''Where Moth and Rust Destroy'', and again on their 2012 album ''Antiseptic Bloodbath''. Eric Wagner
Eric Wagner (April 24, 1959 – August 22, 2021) was an American heavy metal singer, best known for his work with doom metal band Trouble. Career Wagner formed Trouble in 1979. He briefly left the band in the mid-1990s and formed Lid with guitarist Daniel Cavanagh, resulting in 1997's ''In the Mushroom''. He also appeared on Dave Grohl's heavy metal side-project ''Probot'' in 2004 with the song "My Tortured Soul". He rejoined Trouble in 2000, and recorded one more album with them, '' Simple Mind Condition'' (2007), before leaving the band once again in May 2008 to pursue other musical interests and projects. Wagner had also been recording under the band name Blackfinger. He also formed The Skull, which features former Trouble bassist Ron Holzner. Death Wagner died from complications of COVID-19 in Las Vegas on August 22, 2021, at the age of 62.
