Manhunt – Solving Britain's Crimes
''Manhunt – Solving Britain's Crimes'' is a programme aired by ITV in the UK. It is very similar to the BBC's ''Crimewatch'', which ran for 22 years prior to the first airing of ''Manhunt'', on 4 December 2006. A second edition of the programme aired on 29 May 2007. ''Manhunt'' profiles 10 of the country's most wanted criminals, and appeals for help from the public to track them down. The pilot episode of the show gained 5 million viewers, and received 9,000 calls from the public. ITV (TV Network)
ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it has been legally known as Channel 3 to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. ITV was for four decades a network of separate companies which provided regional television services and also shared programmes between each other to be shown on the entire network. Each franchise was originally owned by a different company. Crimewatch
''Crimewatch'' (formerly ''Crimewatch UK'') is a British television programme produced by the BBC, that reconstructs major unsolved crimes in order to gain information from the public which may assist in solving the case. The programme was originally broadcast once a month on BBC One, although in the final years before cancellation it was usually broadcast roughly once every two months. ''Crimewatch'' was first broadcast on 7 June 1984, and is based on the German TV show ''Aktenzeichen XY… ungelöst'' (which translates as ''File Reference XY … Unsolved''). Nick Ross and Sue Cook presented the show for the first eleven years, until Cook's departure in June 1995. Cook was replaced by Jill Dando. ITV News is the branding of news programmes on the British television network ITV. ITV has a long tradition of television news. Mark Austin (journalist)
Mark William Austin (born 1 November 1958) is an English journalist and television presenter, currently working for '' Sky News''. Austin is best known as the former co-newscaster for the ''ITV Evening News'', alongside Mary Nightingale, and the former co-newscaster of the ''ITV News at Ten'', alongside Julie Etchingham. He also presented the ITV documentary series ''Real Crime'' from 2008 until 2011. ''Scotland Today'' is a Scottish regional news programme covering Central Scotland, produced by STV Central (formerly Scottish Television). Despite its name suggesting a national remit, the programme was actually limited to stories around STV's Central Belt franchise. Sarah Heaney (born 19 May 1970) is a former Scottish television presenter. Life and career She began her TV career with Live TV as a news reporter, then went on to front ''S2 Live'' on the now defunct SMG digital channel S2. In early 2000 Heaney moved to newsreading on ''Scotland Today''. During this time, Heaney also presented, STV Magazine show "Room at the Top"/"Summer at the Top", which broadcast live from the top of Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow. Heaney also fronted ''Scottish Passport'' and ''Moviejuice'', a film show. In 2006 she took voluntary redundancy as part of major shake-up of ''Scotland Today''.
