Manhattan Connection
Manhattan Connection was a Brazilian talk show, aired from 1993 to 2021. It was created and anchored by journalist Lucas Mendes. The program is taped in New York and was originally broadcast in Brazil on GNT channel, part of Globosat. In 2011, Manhattan Connection moved to the Globo News channel, also part of the Globo cable system. The last episode on Globo News was aired on 22 November 2020. The program was scheduled to return in January 2021, this time on TV Cultura Manhattan Connection is one of the longest running news talk shows in Brazilian history. It consistently ranks among the highest on its channel's ratings list. In its first phase, the participants were Paulo Francis, Caio Blinder and Nelson Motta. Today Mendes and Blinder continue their participation from New York. Lucas Mendes (journalist)
Lucas Mendes Campos (born 4 May 1944) is a Brazilian journalist and television presenter. He was awarded the Maria Moors Cabot Award, the oldest international journalism awards in the United States. In 2015 Campos was one of the 5 recipients of the award for outstanding reporting on the Americas because of his work dedicated to promoting dialogue and democracy in the Americas. Biography Campos was born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais state. He studied at the Military College of Belo Horizonte. Lucas made a career in Rio de Janeiro, where he moved in 1965 to work in the Bloch magazines, such as the extinct Manchete magazine. Globosat, was a Brazilian pay television content service, part of Grupo Globo. Established in 1991, after the creation of subscription television services in Brazil, with 29 channels and over 1,000 employees, it is the largest pay television content provider in Brazil, as well as of Latin America, comprising a domestic audience of 45 million viewers distributed among more than 15 million households. Paulo Francis
Paulo Francis (Rio de Janeiro, September 2, 1930 – New York City, February 4, 1997) was a Brazilian journalist, political pundit, novelist and critic. Francis became prominent in modern Brazilian journalism through his controversial critiques and essays with a trademark writing style, which mixed erudition and vulgarity. Like many other Brazilian intellectuals of his time, Francis was exposed to Americanization during his teens. Caio Blinder
Caio Kraiser Blinder (São Paulo, August 14, 1957) is a Brazilian journalist, writer and TV presenter. Blinder lives in New Jersey, from where he hosts GNT's Manhattan Connection since its inception in 1993. He is also a correspondent for Brazilian radio Jovem Pan, writes for the newspaper ''Diário de Notícias'' and for the Brazilian magazines ''Exame'' and '' Primeira Leitura''. He has master's degrees in Latin American studies from Ohio University and International Relations from the University of Notre Dame. He taught International Relations at Indiana University and was a correspondent for Brazilian newspaper ''Folha de S.Paulo''. Nelson Cândido Motta Filho (born 29 October 1944, São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian journalist, ghostwriter, songwriter, writer, and record producer.
