Mangshi
Mangshi (; tdd, ᥝᥥᥒᥰ ᥛᥫᥒᥰ ᥑᥩᥢᥴ; Jingpho language, Jingpho: Mangshi Myu), former name Luxi (), is a county-level city and the seat of Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, western Yunnan province, China. Mangshi has an area of , with an urban area of . Han Chinese, Dai people (Tai Nuea branch) and Jingpo people (Zaiwa branch) are the major ethnic groups. Luxi County was founded in 1949, and became a county-level city in 1996. Etymology The name "Mangshi" first appeared in 1443, when the Tai Nuea tusi Mangshi Tusi, Mangshi ''Yuyi Zhangguansi'' () was established. Anton Mang
Anton "Toni" Mang (; born 29 September 1949 in Inning (Starnberg) at the Ammersee) is a former five-time world champion in Grand Prix motorcycle racing from Germany. Early life When he was 11 he had his first experience with motorcycles on the DKW RT 125, but soon afterwards he chose skibobbing as his favored sport. He was successful at this sport, winning the German National Championship as well as the Junior European Championship in skibobbing at the age of 16. Still, motorsports kept pulling at him and he took part in a 50cc race on a Kreidler two years later though he had to pull out of the race due to mechanical difficulties. Professional racing In 1970 Mang joined the reigning 125cc world champion Dieter Braun's team as his mechanic. Together with Sepp Schloegl and Alfons Zender Mang, he developed the "Schloegl Mang Zender" (SMZ 250). Henry Mang
Henry Philip Mang (11 December 1897 – 30 March 1987) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Edenwold, Northwest Territories, which is now in Saskatchewan. Mang trained in Toronto at the Royal College of Dentistry at the University of Toronto where he also took a one-year honours course in Philosophy, English and History. He participated in World War I under the Royal Flying Corps. Eventually, his jobs included farming and teaching and became a school principal. Between 1934 and 1938, Mang was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the Lumsden riding. He was first elected to Parliament at the Qu'Appelle riding in the 1953 general election then after one term was defeated by Alvin Hamilton of the Progressive Conservative party in the 1957 election. Mang Of Xia
Máng (芒, read Wáng according to Sima Zhen) was the ninth king of the semi-legendary Xia Dynasty. He possibly ruled 18 years. He was also known as Huang (荒). Emperor Si Mang established a Sinking Sacrifice Ceremony (沉祭 Chen Ji) in which three common livestock animals (a cow, a pig & a sheep) & a memorial jade were sunk into the Yellow River as offerings to water spirits for peace & safety. Sinking sacrifices have since found widespread importance throughout Chinese history. Family Máng's father was king Huai of Xia, son of the king Zhu of Xia. Rudolf Mang
Rudolf Mang (17 June 1950 – 12 March 2018) was a German heavyweight weightlifter. He competed at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics and placed fifth and second, respectively. Between 1971 and 1972 he won four more medals at the world and European championships and set two world records: one in the snatch and one in the press. The Mang (; vi, Mảng) are an ethnic group living primarily in Lai Châu, northwestern Vietnam, where they are one of that nation's 54 officially recognized ethnic groups. There are also about 500 Mang living in the Yunnan province of southern China, where they are officially termed an undistinguished nationality. The Mang, or Matang, community is an Indian caste mainly residing in the state of Maharashtra. The community was historically believed to be associated with village security and professions such as rope making, broom making, musicians, cattle castration, leather curing, midwifery, executioners, and funeral directors. In modern day India, they are listed as a Scheduled Caste, Their origins lie in the Narmada Valley of India, and they were formerly classified as a criminal tribe under the Criminal Tribes Acts of the British Raj. Mang (autonym: ; zh, s=莽语, p=Mǎngyǔ) is an Austroasiatic language of Vietnam, China, and Laos. It is spoken mainly in Lai Châu Province, Vietnam and across the border in Jinping County, China. It was first documented only in 1974. In China, the Mang people are also called Chaman (岔满), Abi (阿比), Mengga (孟嘎), Bageran (巴格然), and Mo (莫). Distribution In Lai Châu Province, Vietnam, Mang is spoken by 2,200 people in the districts of Sìn Hồ, Mường Tè, Phong Thổ, and in other nearby areas, including in Nậm Ban Township, Sìn Hồ District, Lai Châu Province. In China, Mang speakers numbered 606 people in 1999. The Mang of China claim to have migrated from Vietnam in recent times.
