Mandy Yachad
Mandy Yachad (born 17 November 1960) is a former South African cricketer and field hockey player who represented the South African national team in both sports. He is a qualified attorney, and an active business executive. Yachad made his international cricket debut for South Africa in 1991, but only played one One Day International for South Africa. With much of his cricket career falling during the international sporting boycott of South Africa in the 1980s and early 1990s, Yachad was denied the opportunity of playing international career during the prime of his career. He was named among the South African Cricket Annual five Players of the Year both in 1985 and 1991. He was a specialist opening batsman who scored 14 centuries and 32 fifties in his 16-year first class career, which spanned 109 matches, mostly for Transvaal in two spells (1978–1983 and 1992–1994) and Northern Transvaal (between 1983 and 1992). Leg Before Wicket
Leg before wicket (lbw) is one of the ways in which a batsman can be dismissed in the sport of cricket. Following an appeal by the fielding side, the umpire may rule a batter out lbw if the ball would have struck the wicket but was instead intercepted by any part of the batter's body (except the hand holding the bat). The umpire's decision will depend on a number of criteria, including where the ball pitched, whether the ball hit in line with the wickets, the ball's expected future trajectory after hitting the batsman, and whether the batter was attempting to hit the ball. Leg before wicket first appeared in the laws of cricket in 1774, as batsmen began to use their pads to prevent the ball hitting their wicket. The 18th Maccabiah Games ( he, המכביה ה-18 ישראל תשס"ט), were held in July 2009. According to the organizing committee these were the largest games held yet.
