Mander, Overijssel
Mander (Tweants: ) is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is a part of the municipality of Tubbergen, and lies about 15 km northeast of Almelo. It was first mentioned in 797 as Manheri. The etymology is unclear. In 1840, it was home 440 people. Among the points of special interest are two watermills, some hidden tumuli, and the land art project 'Mander Circles' by Paul de Kort. Mander Organs Limited formerly N.P Mander Limited was an English pipe organ maker and refurbisher based in London. Although well known for many years in the organ building industry, they achieved wider notability in 2004 with the refurbishment of the Royal Albert Hall's Father Willis Grand Organ. The company filed for insolvency in 2020. Mander built and installed numerous celebrated organs, notably the 68-stop four manual and pedal organ in the Church of St Ignatius Loyola, New York – reportedly the largest mechanical action built by a British builder. Simon Preston said of this instrument: "It is difficult to do justice to this famous instrument in a couple of sentences; suffice to say that to look at this beautiful instrument is to know the sound that will come out of it." Martin "Mander" Ander (born 6 April 1976) is a Swedish graphic designer, illustrator and artist known for his work in the skateboard and music industry. Life and career Martin Ander grew up in the 1970s and 80s in a suburb of Stockholm. His mother was a journalist, while his father was a graphic designer and art director at an advertising agency. It was in the Swedish capital that he started to get involved with the skateboarding scene and culture in the mid-1980s. That was when skateboarding became an influential trend in Northern Europe.
