The Manchu people in Taiwan constitute a small minority of the population of Taiwan. Migration history The Manchu people living in Taiwan arrived primarily in two waves of migration. The first wave was during the Qing dynasty era, in which the Manchu-led government annexed Taiwan into the Qing Empire. Chyi Chin
Chyi Chin (; born 12 January 1960) is a Taiwanese singer, songwriter and actor. Early life Chyi was born in Taichung, Taiwan. When he was young, his father had a strict daily regimen of study that started at 5 am. His studies varied from English music and literature to classical Chinese literature and Tang dynasty poetry. Chyi, however, did not enjoy reading. When he became a teenager, his father's push for education caused a strain on their relationship. Chyi joined a local gang in defiance of his father, and landed in jail for three years as a result of his decision. During his incarceration, Chyi Chin learned to be introspective and kept a diary. While in prison, he earned an appreciation for music. The prison had a guitar in the courtyard for the "juvenile delinquents'" recreation, and Chyi taught himself how to play on it. National Chung Cheng University
National Chung Cheng University (CCU; ) is a national university in Minxiong Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. CCU is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. History National Chung Cheng University was the first public university established after Taiwan's economic boom of the 1980s. In 1986, in order to promote research and to develop higher education in the Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan areas, the government approved a plan to establish a strongly research-oriented university in Chiayi. Jiu Manzhou Dang
''Jiu Manzhou Dang'' () (Manchu: ''Fe Manju Dangse'') is a set of Manchu archives stored at the National Palace Museum in Taipei, Taiwan. It is the sourcebook of '' Manwen Laodang'' and a primary source of early Manchu history. It is often called ''yuandang'' (原檔 original archives). It covers official Manchu documents from the 3rd month of the 35th year of the Wanli Emperor (1607) to the 12th month of the 1st year of Chongde (1636). Archives are mostly written in the script without dots and circles. Although Dahai is said to have invented the script with dots and circles in 1632, subsequent archives occasionally, but not always, add dots and circles. Standard Manchu required time to establish. ''Jiu Manzhou Dang'' was discovered in 1931, a month after the discovery of the Beijing edition of ''Manwen Laodang''. Three more volumes were found in 1935. Xi'an Incident
The Xi'an Incident, previously romanized as the Sian Incident, was a political crisis that took place in Xi'an, Shaanxi in 1936. Chiang Kai-shek, leader of the Nationalist government of China, was detained by his subordinate generals Chang Hsüeh-liang (Zhang Xueliang) and Yang Hucheng, in order to force the ruling Chinese Nationalist Party (Kuomintang or KMT) to change its policies regarding the Empire of Japan and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Prior to the incident, Chiang Kai-shek followed a strategy of "first internal pacification, then external resistance" that entailed eliminating the CCP and appeasing Japan to allow time for the modernization of China and its military. After the incident, Chiang aligned with the Communists against the Japanese. However, by the time Chiang arrived in Xi'an on 4 December 1936, negotiations for a united front had been in the works for two years. The Examination Yuan is the civil service commission branch, in charge of validating the qualification of civil servants, of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). John Kuan
John Kuan (; born 9 June 1940), also known as Kuan Chung, is a Taiwanese politician who was president of the Examination Yuan of the Republic of China from 2008 to 2014. Personal life Kuan is of Manchu descent, belonging to the Plain White Banner. His surname Kuan is the sinicized form of his clan (hala) name Gūwalgiya ( Manchu: ). Kuan's daughter, Wendy Kuan (關雲娣), died in May 2011 after she fell from the kitchen window of her 27th floor apartment in Shanghai. It was rumored that she committed suicide because her husband, Zero Lin (林哲樂), was having an affair. Kuan has avoided meeting Lin ever since his daughter's death, refusing to attend any family events where his son-in-law would be present. Doze Niu (, also known as Niu Chen-zer; born June 22, 1966) is a Taiwanese actor, film director, show host, screenwriter, and producer. As a film director, he is best known for the Taiwanese film '' Monga''. Early life Niu was born in Taipei, Taiwan on June 22, 1966. He grew up in the military dependents' village in Gongguan, Taipei. His father's family is from the Manchu Niohuru clan and his mother's family has military background. His grandfather was a general, so he would often accompany him to visit Chiang Kai-shek. When he was 12, his father was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and became bed-ridden for 25 years until his death. His love for Hong Kong cinema may have influenced his later works.
