Manchar Lake
Lake Manchar ( sd, منڇر ڍنڍ, ), also spelled Manchhar, is the largest natural freshwater lake in Pakistan, and is one of South Asia's largest. It is located west of the Indus River, in Jamshoro District and Dadu District, Sindh - 18 km away from Sehwan Sharif. Lake Manchar collects water from numerous small streams in the Kirthar Mountains, and then empties into the Indus River. The lake's surface area fluctuates with the seasons, from as little as 36 km², to as much as 500 km² during monsoon rains. History The lake's banks and vicinity are home to ancient archaeological sites Ghazi Shah, Wahi Pandhi Ali Murad Mound. The sites of Lal Chatto, Mashak Lohri and Lakhiyo situated along the edge of Lake Manchar are the most ancient sites, which date from the Harappan culture. Sehwan ( sd, سيوهڻ شريف, ur, ; also commonly referred to as Sehwan Sharif or ''Noble Sehwan'') is a historic city located in Jamshoro District of Sindh province in Pakistan and on the west bank of the Indus River, Indus north-west of Hyderabad, Sindh, Hyderabad. 2022 Pakistan Floods
From 14 June to October 2022, floods in Pakistan killed 1,739 people, and caused ₨ 3.2 trillion ($14.9 billion) of damage and ₨ 3.3 trillion ($15.2 billion) of economic losses. 2010 Pakistan Floods
The floods in Pakistan began in late July 2010, resulting from heavy monsoon rains in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and, Balochistan regions of Pakistan, which affected the Indus River basin. Approximately one-fifth of Pakistan's total land area was affected by floods, with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province facing the brunt of the damage and casualties (above 90% of all the deaths occurred in the province). Nationwide, there were 1,985 deaths. According to Pakistani government data, the floods directly affected about 20 million people, mostly by destruction of property, livelihood and infrastructure. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had initially asked for US$460 million (€420 million) for emergency relief, noting that the flood was the worst disaster he had ever seen. Hamal Lake
Hamal Lake ( ur, ) is situated in Qambar Shahdadkot District in Sindh, Pakistan, 58 km from Larkana city and 40 km from Qambar town. The length of the lake is 25 km and the width is 10 km and has a surface area of 2965 acres (1200 ha). It is a fresh water lake and the main source of water are the streams comes through from Kirthar Mountains. Hamal Lake is the habitat of resident and Siberian migratory birds like Ducks, Geese, Coots, Shorebirds, Cormorants, Flamingos, Herons, Ibises, Gulls, Terns and Egrets. It is also the great nursery of fresh water fishes.
