''Man with the Transplanted Brain '' (french: L'Homme au cerveau greffé, it, L'uomo dal cervello trapiantato) is a 1972 French-Italian-West German science fiction-drama film written and directed by Jacques Doniol-Valcroze. It is loosely based on a novel by Alain Franck and Victor Vicas. Plot The head of a neurosurgical clinic, Professor Jean Marcilly, famous brain specialist, condemned by an incurable heart disease, pushes Dr. Robert Degagnac to transplant his brain into the young 23-year-old Franz Eckerman, a former racer and race car tester, victim of a car crash. Jacques Doniol-Valcroze
Jacques Doniol-Valcroze (; 15 March 1920 – 6 October 1989) was a French actor, critic, screenwriter, and director. In 1951, Doniol-Valcroze was a co-founder of the renowned film magazine ''Cahiers du cinéma'', along with André Bazin and Joseph-Marie Lo Duca. The magazine was initially edited by Doniol-Valcroze between 1951-1957. As critic, he championed numerous filmmakers including Orson Welles, Howard Hawks, and Nicholas Ray. In 1955, then 23-year-old François Truffaut made a short film in Doniol-Valcroze's apartment, '' Une Visite''. Jacques's daughter Florence played a minor part in it. In 1955, he was a member of the jury at the 16th Venice International Film Festival, and in 1964 a member of the jury at the 14th Berlin International Film Festival. Andrée Micheline Ghislaine Tainsy (26 April 1911 – 19 December 2004) was a Belgian actress. She worked with several notable actors like Philippe Noiret, Jean Louis Trintignant, Charlotte Rampling and famous directors like Claude Chabrol, Costas Gavras and François Ozon. Tainsy began her career with theater plays and her first film debut was in 1945, followed by over 80 different cinema and TV works as co-star. She worked until the day of her death. Mathieu Carrière
Mathieu Carrière (; born 2 August 1950) is a German actor. Life Carrière grew up in Berlin and Lübeck; he attended the Jesuit boarding school in Vannes, France, a school which had previously been attended by the director of Carrière's first major film, Volker Schlöndorff. In 1969, Carrière moved to Paris to study philosophy and continue his acting. Carrière is also a director and a writer and is known to fight for the rights of fathers. His sister Mareike Carrière was also an actress.
